The second piece in Verizon's EV-DO Rev. A push-to-talk puzzle is getting pushed out the door today -- so if you weren't feeling last week's
Motorola Adventure V750 launch, you've got another option to check out. The rugged
G'zOne Boulder from Casio brings an integrated compass, 1.3 megapixel cam, VZ Navigator support, and a microSD slot; it's available both in orange / black and black / silver, but at launch, only the silver version will be optionally available without a camera. Look for it to start trickling through the standard retail channels today for $179.99 before a $50 rebate on a new two-year contract.

I'm just wondering....how many people actually use PTT on Verizon?
Mark @ Jul 28th 2008 3:27PM
As of right now, there are not a whole lot of subscribers on the Verizon PTT network. Mostly due to the inefficiency and lack of speed comparing to the competition (Sprint/Nextel) However with this new PTT with Rev-A both of those inadequacies will be brought right now to speed. It may take some time for VZW to get people to believe they've done it. Only time will tell though.

I hear verizon is paying people $25 dollars for every person recommended and if a new line gets activated by the person.. That spread of word and pay should get some peoples attention and the PTT population should increase over time i would think

SO.... does anyone know what version of Bluetooth this thing is using? the only thing published anywhere states that it is "stereo bluetooth" ohh yay cause A2DP hasn't been around forever or anything.
Gizmodo had a sketchy spec sheet which said 2.0. but its the only place that I have seen. Any body have any verification?

casio must not have been thinking too hard when they named this thing... anybody want to carry around a cell phone called "the boulder?"
but what do you expect from a company known for making cheap plastic digital watches?
Tim @ Jul 29th 2008 1:14PM
I own the original G'zOne and have been awaiting this next generation. I love my old Casio phone and I would bet that the name Boulder has more to do with the weight of the device. The G'zOnes are noticeably heavier then any other on the market. You can literally beat the snot out of these phones. Drop em in a puddle or onto pavement...they can take it!
Sure, Casio may make cheap watches but they also are known for making the shock series of watches that also stand up to abuse.

I have the boulder and I think I like it......
So far I have noticed it doesn't have the same volume ability compared to other phones. It doesn't ring as loud and and the speaker phone option is really low as well. Is it because it's water tight or did I get a dud?

I waited for a waterproof phone, i bought this and the sound was terrible, cannot hear clearly, rep said they made the seal too tight, so it effects the clarity, after 5 days i returned it and had to settle for a non-waterproof phone, the only reason i bought it in the first place, rep said early '09 the next generation of boulder is coming out, because of this problem. I got screwed, stay away from these new models, they are the worst......JS
