Who would've thought that Nokia's first Series 40 dual slider would be for CDMA networks? Well, not so fast -- these two aren't exactly Series 40, it seems. Nokia hasn't announced either the 3608 flip or 8208 dual slider officially, but official specs and pictures have popped up on an Espoo-owned domain that reveal the China-bound handsets to operate on CDMA 800 / 1900, and in the case of the 8208, we can say with certainty that there's EV-DO Rev. A on board. Anyway, as we were saying, Nokia lists both as having "Series 40 Nokia like UIs," with "like" being the key word there; we suspect these are either still being manufactured for Nokia by a third party, Series 40 can't rock CDMA in its current incarnation, or a little bit of both. Trust us, though, Nokia -- that doesn't mean you shouldn't take these cute little guys global.

Nokia has fallen hard in the states. They used to be the king of the hill but now I don't even know of someone with a nokia phone.

That's immaterial, really. They are still #1 in the world and I don't see their falling anytime soon. Nokia used to have a stronger low- to mid-end presence over here but I guess they realized with the N-series they get more money in Europe and it's been doing them quite nicely.

It seems to be as simple as that att and Nokia don't seem to really like each other.
Nokia being number one by far with profits and owning 40% of cell phone market comes only from Europe and Asia and they are currently having least of the problems with the USA economy. Plus they are ready in China with dominant position. So they will most probally continue getting more dominant position.
But it's wierd that they haven't really done much of a work with NA. It's not the biggest cell phone market there, but it's still large. People shouldn't look too much about the N and E series phones because those aren't the phones that make the % and most of the profits. It's phones like 6500 slide, 6300 and so on.
