China's iPhone 3G gets an unboxing
On top of a piano, no less. China might be a bit late to the party by now, but they've sure got class. Taiwan retailer ePrice has unboxed a Chinese UI version of the iPhone for your viewing pleasure, and they even did a bit of Chinese handwriting recognition just for kicks. There's video as well (we embedded one after the break), so you really can't go wrong with this one, we promise.

That should be the one from HK, it shows Traditional Chinese and a HK localized character, not simplified chinese that uses in China.

and WHY exactly was this necessary?

Ahhh, the iPhone. Last year it was the Jesus phone and all you Jonestown Kool-Aid drinkers had to wait a year for 3G and GPS? Nice. These were features WinMo phones have had for two years. What'll Apple think of for next year - a tactile keyboard? How original.
Steve Jobs is like Oprah Winfrey. They could sell you an empty jar of nothingness and you'd buy it because you cannot think for yourselves.
The iPhone is like everything Apple makes: a great looking device that helps you accomplish absolutely nothing in style. Enjoy Jonestown.

You're forgetting one key thing - it will allow people to combine devices and not have to carry around pocketfulls of gadgets.
I have my personal cell phone, a phone for work email, and an ipod. I will be able to combine them all into 1 device.
PeterF @ Jul 9th 2008 3:48PM
@Lucas
And no other phones can play music and receive email?
Bit @ Jul 9th 2008 4:30PM
@Lucas
ummm. I've been doing that since forever with my windows mobile phone?

Im tired of this whole unboxing BS. Do we have to go to post shots from every country of people getting a damn device. Or is it because the writers wont get off their lazy asses and actually find decent mobile news to post about.
Heres a tip, mention that HTC finally made an extended battery for their Touch Diamond or that MWG finally made the Zinc II available to the public
egoviri @ Jul 9th 2008 11:30PM
I can swear that the HTC Diamond battery post already happened

I thought the first Chinese iPhone 3G went to Meizu?
Word is that Meizu is now 'Super Happy Fun Club' with iPhone...
Meccalangelo @ Jul 9th 2008 3:52PM
Yeah whatever happened to that M8? How about a follow-up engadget. Considering that at the time it would have been a great device since it was 3g and then iPhone wasn't. Id like to see the M8 interface on the omnia

'Winmo' as it is affectionately titled here and elsewhere is a steaming pile o' . I have had the misfortune of having to use unca billy's OS (if it can be so called) for the last two years and cannot wait to get my hands on something a little more aesthetically pleasing and well thought through. Hooray for Jobsie.

iPhone is revolutionary. Not in terms of features (even though its screen is the killer feature imo) but in terms of execution. Mobile OSX is the first mobile platform to trully take advantage of the concept of a touchscreen. WM pales in comparison (and yes I was a WM user for 5 years or so). WM users can now be proud of the camera capabilities of their relics and let the real work be done by the big boys :)
