HTC Touch Diamond gets extended battery, bigger butt
The Touch Diamond's controversial rear-end styling not bold enough for you? Well, that's an easy fix, mate -- just make it stick out a little bit more. HTC has now detailed an extended battery kit for the Touch Diamond which includes a 1340mAh pack (up from 900mAh out of the box) and a larger battery cover to help you contain all that go-juice. Looks like it's still on pre-order at this point, but once it pops, it'll run £40.95 (about $81).

is it just me or does $81 for a PHONE battery sound kind of ridiculous?
Itsuru @ Jul 8th 2008 6:38PM
You live in the US, it will probably end up as $30...

I don't care how much junk in 'da trunk the Diamond has...hawtness any way you cut it. I only wish the scroll wheel/dedicated button area would slide down to reveal a qwerty keypad (I hate those landscape keyboards like the Touch Pro).

I love how people complain about battery life, when they have pretty much
a computer in their hands. I'm surprised the battery in my tilt lasts as long
as it does. Packing that much energy into such a small space is just asking for trouble, if the battery or charging circuit goes bonkers.

idk about this phone...looks like something that would come with a ps3

Have to say, after just under a month now with the Diamond, it really is a fantastic little phone. Having been an owner of previous HTC "chunky" devices (with keyboards, such as the Tilt), it's nice to have such a slim, light, device. The battery life hasn't been an issue so far (I have a charger and car mount in my car so I plug it in when I'm using it as my car's MP3 player/GPS) but, I'm sure I'd pick up this pack when its released for less convenient days. Great phone though. For me, this has the iPhone beat in nearly every way - my only grumbles are: the camera is still not amazing (but still better than the iPhone), the interface can sometimes be laggy if there's too much running and a bigger HD might have been nice, but on the whole, this phone overdelivered for me. In fact, three of my friends have bought one this week, although the tipping point for them was the Teeter game. Go figure.

This is the same battery as the CDMA version is getting by default.
I wonder what they are doing for the space behind the cover NOT the battery. It cant be empty. If the bat is the same size, why get a new cover? Maybe its just a little thicker.

This phone is way too ugly for me to ever want to be seen with.
