Sprint to get a head start over Verizon on Treo 800w sales?
Continuing a tradition observed by the 755p, it looks like Sprint has every intention of jumping out ahead of Verizon just a little bit on the imminent Treo 800w launch. It's no secret that Verizon will be picking it up, of course, but Sprint is flaunting in what appears to be some internal documentation that it'll be featuring the latest Palm device for a good 2-3 months ahead of time. What we don't know is whether Sprint knows this because it has signed up for a period of exclusivity, or because they've done a little... ahem, "research" on their CDMA rival and discovered that Big Red's network validation isn't as far along. The Spy vs. Spy lover in us hopes it's the latter.

SPRINT IS JUST GREAT! REALLY GREAT PRICES. I HOPE THEY MAKE ONE HELL OF A COMEBACK!

With their last reported quarterly loss of $505M, the Sprint is hemorrhaging. For Sprint to be relying on Palm, a company with its head so far up its own ass it's watching last years Thanksgiving dinner still digest, is certifiably insane.

I love it when huge corporations use improper punctuation in official propaganda. Does anyone proof read any more?

Wait, I think the word you are looking for is "Impossible."
Let me know if I'm wrong. Its just a hunch

ok, all joking aside
the last palm big device(755) was pretty much a non seller
the centro is doing well, but the pearl is out selling it
with the 800p coming out, no new OS, and just a redesign on the case...why does it matter who has it first?
it's just a shinier turd.
palm needs a new OS work over, the OS kinda sucks, isn't very intuitive, hard to figure out, and unless you are an old palmOS user it isn't something to try out for new users.

This phone is VERY different from the other Palm Centro. It uses the Windows OS platform.
Dead_Rebel @ Jul 7th 2008 10:02AM
You do realize this is the 800w not p, and has WinMo 6.1 and nothing close to PalmOS, right? Peddle your warez elsewhere...
VZWguy @ Jul 7th 2008 10:13AM
It could be running windoze mobile, or palm OS....the comment is still true palm(treo) is in bad need of an OS overhaul, and popping more windoze mobile devices that are buggy as hell like the 700W, WX are going to get the same result. I can't wait til somebody buys this, has it crash 10 times, or is a horrible reception, or bad sound quality, or any number of the palm issues with their devices....and calls it a day.....again.
people looking to HTC, samsung, whoever for the device because palm has let them down so many time on so many devices. they need to get palm2.0 out, push it on the market, and do something fresh, because biggie sized centro looking models are going to get as played out as the old ones they had.
this devices rates on the "meh" level to 98% of the market...and if you are making phones hoping to sell to only 2% of the customers.....well, somebody will gladly buy you out sooner or later.

Great! Sprint will have a whole 90 day jump on the "nobody gives a crap" train.
Is there anyone, ANYWHERE excited for a WimMO centro? really?
