Telus announces HTC Touch Diamond for a summer release
Though the Sprint version is the most well-scooped CDMA variant thus far, Telus is actually becoming the first carrier 'round these parts to announce the Touch Diamond imbued with a little EV-DO for your data-consumption pleasure. The phone will run $149.99 CAD (which is just about a wash in US dollars) on a three-year contract, accompanied by data plans ranging from $15 for email and instant messaging to $30 for email, IM, and web browsing. Sprint, Verizon, we anxiously await your press releases.

is it just me or does this version look a little different from the other Touch Diamonds I've seen?

the telus website rendering does not have the diamond back. whethere thats a telus mistake of rendering or the way the cdma version comes. who knows
GoChris @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:34PM
the cdma version is slightly different looking than the gsm version.
blitzkrieg999 @ Jul 3rd 2008 4:24PM
It is indeed different. The Telus/T-Mo UK/O2/etc. version of the phone is rounded at the top and bottom, and has a flat rubberized back instead of the facetted back of the stock design.

I'm actually watching for this thing on Verizon. I'm on T-Mo now, but wouldn't stay with T-Mo even if they got it first.
I was waiting for the Dare on Verizon, but after learning a couple of things today I'm not as sure. I'll still be checking out the Dare at my local Verizon store this evening.

who is really going to sigh up for a three year contract for a new phone the instinct is only a two year deal along with the touch diamond
Will Static @ Jul 7th 2008 4:03PM
You don't have to sign 3years but obviously this is how you get the diamond for $150 instead of ( an imported gsm diamond for $750)
you be the judge of what you want to spend up front.

Hi My friend has this phone and loves it she bought hers from the states. Im waiting for it to come to canada I cant wait tell it comes. I hope we get these phones real soon!! I will sign a contract for this phone when it comes. Please let know when you recieve this phone HTC Touch Diamond.
smover @ Aug 11th 2008 8:23AM
I got my hands on one Diamond, and this phone is desperatly slow. It is looking good, but i can't stand using something that slow to operate. My N95 8GB is more complete and way faster.
As it is right now, the Touch Diamond is a mess. I hope HTC will make quick upgrades that will fix things up, but i'd advise you guys to test it before you make an order... BTW it's a good thing for me, i'll wait S60 Touch / WinMo 7 / Android before i spend more money into a new phone.
