Shoot, all Motorola had to do was change from
pink mahogany to this nice, normal, compliant shade of black, and that would've been enough of an update to justify a model name change. There's more, though: the V9x will officially offer AT&T Navigator, the
Telenav-powered navigation system already found on the
Z9, and we can see from these press shots that it'll even work on the secondary display, which is pretty trick. This appears to be the same update that we'd originally heard would drop
way back in January, which means we can likely expect
Video Share support as well. Check 'er out!

Right on ... this is actually not the first one either ... think about V9m for Sprint and Verizon ... ridiculous!
Striker @ Jul 2nd 2008 8:44PM
There are only 3 standard models until this one: the V8 (EDGE-only), the V9 (HSDPA and top of the line), and the V9m (a gimped version of the V9 that supports VCast, Sprint TV, and EV-DO, but sacrifices processing power as well as RAM). This will likely replace the V9, as they are very similar phones, except for the inclusion of GPS.

but when does it drop in AT&T stores (i.e., when can we get this phone in a nonugly color)?
Riley Freeman @ Jul 2nd 2008 12:13PM
u mean people are actually still willing to buy this phone? its sooooooooooooooooooooo long.
Charlie @ Jul 9th 2008 11:37AM

when i first heard of this phone way back, i was really excited and was ready to buy it right when it dropped.
then it came out in that pinkish color.
and i didn't get it.
now it seems like ages later, and it's finally in the only color i believe phones should be (hint: black).
it's a shame the new iphone has my name on it... good luck moto, no wonder you're spiraling!

I hope att will release software update for razr2 v9
Striker @ Jul 2nd 2008 8:45PM
Hopefully it will be a magical color-changing update!
ScreamingSayonara @ Jul 4th 2008 4:56AM
I only care about a SW update to existing v9's if i will include external touchscreen features other than the music player. We need everything the HK and Euro versions have...
tim @ Jul 2nd 2008 8:52PM
Yes its about time. I also passed on the v9 because of the color and some crippled features. If they price it too high though its not going to sell even with the updates, dont blame moto. at&t picks the colors and features.
Luis @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:31PM
You people are crazy! I loved the color of the Razr2 v9.
It's one thing seeing it in pictures but when you hold it, it looks nice.
I should know, I know fashion. I do like this new color though. Doesn't pop as much as the other one, but w/e.
Ken @ Jul 3rd 2008 6:26PM
Thank the lord that hideous pinkish hue color AT&T released it with is finally being replaced.
Wayne Schulz @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:56PM
Is this the one on the FCC site where the manual mentioned that it was going to support MS Exchange?

Well I already bought a V9 and thought I was getting all these features now they come out with a new phone for me to buy. What a ripoff im not buying any moto phones anymore. Yea they show the GPS nav on the outer screen but that doesnt mean you can actually do that as we all have learned. With Motorola you but the phone and then you find out what the real features are!!!!!!
Charlie @ Jul 9th 2008 11:37AM
Im not sure what you are referring to. People love the external touch screen, read the reader reviews on cnet and phonearena. Im sorry it didnt work out for you, they should have included GPS the first time. But dont worry, just think of how the people who bought the IPHONE must feel!!! 1 year later....dun dun dunnnnn
