Sony Ericsson's "Remi" -- W890 style, minus the W?
It looks like Sony Ericsson's finally getting around to producing an ultra-thin candybar that isn't all dolled up in Walkman branding, which should be music to the ears of folks who hate music of all kinds (you know who you are). We jest -- obviously, the Walkman image isn't for everyone, and modern non-Walkman Sony Ericssons typically have plenty of prowess for busting out the tunes -- so we're actually seeing people from all walks of life being able to get into this so-called "Remi". The rumored handset looks plenty real in these shots posted over on se-nse, and the specs sound legit, too: HSDPA, a 3.2 megapixel cam, and a body measuring somewhere in the neighborhood of 10mm thick -- all attributes borrowed from its W890 cousin. Pictured next to the Remi on the right is the legendary T610, a phone that holds a very special place in the hearts of they Sony Ericsson faithful; with its aluminum shell and two-tone face, it's pretty obvious that the Remi is trying to tastefully evoke the T610's cues, so let's just hope there's some bite behind the bark when it launches.

i had a t616 through at&t.
it was a fantastic phone, until cingular turned off whatever tower it was i was using and my signal dropped off to almost nothing. in the DC suburbs no less.
this doesnt look exactly the same though. not sure id be a fan.

The T-610 was my last GSM phone before I started working for Sprint. I had the same signal issues when AT&T was transitioning to Cingular. There was a tower right next to my apartment, but for some reason they turned it off and I couldn't get a signal at home anymore. I don't think I would buy this phone if I were still on GSM though. Looks like it would be too easy to push the wrong menu button.

I agree with the regular version over the walkman versions. I thought the K750 had a lot more style to it than its W800 cousin.

ahhh, i remember my t616. i was the envy of my friends. i do remember though how they would tease me and my polyphonic ringtones because they had mp3's. so i would then point out the t616's ir, bt, mms, 65k screen, ability to control my mac with it, (shitty) camera...so ahead of it's time it was.
"and modern non-Walkman Sony Ericssons typically have plenty of prowess for busting out the tunes"
very true. my s710 has a kick-ass media player with video play-back and play lists capabilities and mega bass. oh yeah, and headphones included.

Yeah I had a T616, bluetooth tethering, gettin' emails, good stuff!
And who could forget Qbert, preloaded! The processor was so slow I was finally able to beat that game!
You could even tune the flux capacitor to turn it into a microwave oven!
