HTC's Touch Diamond gets spotted in Sprint attire
Right, so it's not like we didn't know a CDMA version of HTC's hotly anticipated Touch Diamond was headed to Sprint, but who can honestly argue with in the wild photos proving that said assumption is true? What we have here is a bona fide Diamond in Sprint garb, although eagle-eyed readers will likely notice the mildly tweaked TouchFLO interface (which reeks of Bold there at the bottom, no?). At any rate, you can peek one more (blurry, of course) image of this bugger in the read link.

Does anyone take Sprint seriously as a wireless provider anymore? Verizon needs to get this phone and quick.
Corey L @ Jul 1st 2008 7:07PM
They are when can get a fair amt of minutes + unlimited data for $30 through SERO. Let me know when Verizon has a similar plan without being on a x-yrs customer retention plan.
TheGasMan @ Jul 1st 2008 7:12PM
Any of their customers who rarely or never need to call Customer Service do, I'd say. The people that don't take Sprint seriously are tech blog writers and commenters that enjoy pretending they're not being raped by their other carriers.
t-pain @ Jul 1st 2008 7:18PM
@ TheGasMan- True, and not that I am a big Verizon fan myself, but they are consistently rank as one of the top customer service wireless carriers.
@ Corey L- the reason Sprint offers such great plans is because they hemorrhaging customers due to their shotty coverage. They need to attract as many disgruntled AT&T and Verizon customers as they can.
OziD @ Jul 1st 2008 7:28PM
i love sprint. i beat them into submission after 5 years of being a customer and am getting a great deal on a family plan, and got all of my phones for free. (2 centros a moto q9c and a katana II or DLX or whatever... this was in november)
Service is good in southern california, but I would expect that from any provider.
Verizon matched my monthly payment but didn't have any phones I wanted for a price I was willing to pay.
xB Owner @ Jul 1st 2008 7:11PM
Any idea when it will be released on a useable CDMA network? (Beyond the leaked Verizon Road Map information.)
TheGasMan @ Jul 1st 2008 7:15PM
What's not usable about Sprint, though? Sure, CS is generally bad. But there's nothing wrong with their network other than possibly coverage, but thanks to roaming partnerships, their coverage really isn't any less than VZW.
xB Owner @ Jul 1st 2008 7:20PM
I invite you to take a trip to Central California with your Sprint phone. If you are lucky enough to get a signal, you'll likely be roaming. And on the off chance that you can actually make a phone, I hope you can talk fast. You'll probably get your call dropped in a matter of seconds.
John @ Jul 1st 2008 9:13PM
Sprint has free roaming agreements with Verizon and Alltel and vice versa. So basically, roaming doesnt matter.
Josh S @ Jul 1st 2008 7:15PM
this isnt the Diamond...look at the edges, they are too rounded. the Diamond's edges are more cut and boxy...this looks more like the shadow II if you ask me...
Pixelwix @ Jul 1st 2008 7:24PM
Just becuase the edges are rounded doesn't mean its not the same phone.. look at the mogul, verizon and sprint both have the phone but with differrent casing.. its not uncommon of a carrier to change the case designe to make thier phone abit uniqe
Al @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:21AM
You could easily knock off saying this the Shadow II because the Shadows II is non-touch screen device and this is obviously a touch screen device, based on where the start key is.
xB Owner @ Jul 1st 2008 7:14PM
Unlimited data and a fair amount of minutes for $30 means absolutely nothing when you can't get a signal to make a phone call.
I'll be switching to VZW from T-Mobile because of poor service (signal and customer service). And T-Mo is worlds beyond Sprint in my region when it comes to cell coverage. Sprint isn't even a laughable option around these parts.
TheGasMan @ Jul 1st 2008 7:17PM
Ah, now I see what's going on: Sprint doesn't have good coverage in your particular area, so the entire network is deemed unusable.
xB Owner @ Jul 1st 2008 8:05PM
As far as I am concerned... yes. Why in the world would I choose a cell service that I can't use WHERE I LIVE, WORK AND PLAY.
And it isn't just my area. You hear similar complaints from all over the country.
hank94jp @ Jul 6th 2008 5:46PM
Work, live, and play? Haha you must work for T-Mobile, thats word for word some of the BS that T-Mo reps love to throw around. I sell Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T and I personally have sprint. Sprint works just fine for me and I've never had any issues with them. Not to mention the fact that about 60% of the T-Mobile phones that I sell end up getting returned due to the fact that they don't have adequate coverage. Sprint, on the other hand, has far better reception than T-Mobile. People just love to hop on the "Sprint sucks" bandwagon, just like people love bashing Vista even though it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
Truckondo @ Jul 8th 2008 3:20AM
Hmmm. Sprint works better than any other carrier I have tried here in Orange County, CA. Even when the "coverage" maps show 75% signal strength in my area, T-mobile and AT&T have no signal downstairs in my house and I would be lucky to have 1 bar if I hung out my upstairs window. I have been on SERO for a year with no problems. My Moto Q is a bit old compared to whats out today but it still gets the job done. I'm hoping to upgrade to the HTC Touch Pro when it comes out.
KE4QPF @ Jul 1st 2008 8:06PM
It's nice and all, but I was expecting Sprint to throw some HPPTT into it with QChat. I guess that's too much to ask. But since it's going to be a while before it's released, and into the stores, there might be a few tweaks here and there.
Riley Freeman @ Jul 1st 2008 8:14PM
thats a massive hardware tweak. aint going to happen.

It looks like Verizon will get this phone too...!!!!!!
gaffinent @ Jul 1st 2008 8:46PM
I dont know where you guys live but in Southern Cali Sprint and VZW have much better service than any GSM provider. And sprint bests verizon in many places. So I have the best service (cdma), the best phone (mogul), the best plan (sero), the fastest 3g (rev-a), the best 3g coverage (rev-a again) and the worst customer care.. oh yea I use e-care so its actually not that bad.. but calling in is ridiculously terrible a little over half the time I must admit. Last month I switched my phones and somehow my line got canceled I swear, It should be better once ensemble billing gets going all the way.
and yes at&t's 3g can reach speeds faster than rev-a but the only thing is when that happens wimax will have launched nation wide. Its an indisputable fact sprint has Americas most robust 3g network
Riley Freeman @ Jul 1st 2008 9:24PM
i am a cdma user in canada. and while i love my cdma. i am not blind enough to think rev a is the fastest 3g. it is not even close. one of the 20 abbreviations gsm has is faster than rev a
gaffinent @ Jul 1st 2008 11:20PM
of course gsm has forms of 3g that are faster than rev-a. But there are a few things here buddy. 1) they are mostly all technically cdma based like evdo. 2) evdo can be upgraded past rev-a. 3) sprint will have nationwide wimax coverage before at&t or VZW has anything faster than rev-a possibly before t-mobile even has 3g lol
badchad @ Jul 1st 2008 9:16PM
Who can complain about Sprints coverage?
With SERO roaming is included. You can just roam over onto Verizon's towers for half the cost.
T.Bush @ Jul 2nd 2008 7:17AM
Does anyone know what size drive will be in this? 8GB's at least I hope.
Tom @ Jul 1st 2008 9:14PM
For $30 a month I'm staying put. But, I hope this phone can tether like my 6700 without extra charges.
STNC @ Jul 1st 2008 10:59PM
There is a red one too
Ron @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:16AM
That photo is so shoddy it looks photoshopped.
periks19 @ Jul 2nd 2008 1:42AM
What is all this gsm vs cdma the only positive thing gsm has is that you can unlock your phone and when traveling pop in other countries sim card but to tell you prepaid service in other countries to talk to the us cost lots of $ so cost wise its about the same if roaming international on a sprint or verizon phone. I have used sprint roaming in mexico and have also taken an unlocked phone bought a prepaid card and i have spend about the same so what i just do now i just used international roaming and just pay it on my bill.
Now gsm users isn't it annoying for you guys to drop calls in buildings, static on your calls do to building interference, no signal most of the time inside buildings specially inside elevators and the fact that verizon and sprint (cdma) have the best 3g coverage and faster speeds than att, not to mention tmobile doesn't even deploy 3g around the nation as of right now?
pdusk88 @ Jul 2nd 2008 9:41PM
Your stupid! I have t-mobile and i never drop a call. I have better coverage than all of my buddies that have sprint. Don't talk!
Damon @ Jul 2nd 2008 9:41AM
So ca I buy this unlocked and take it over to verizon?
rshyffer @ Jul 2nd 2008 12:16PM
When is someone going to make a phone that can take IN FOCUS pictures of other phones? It'd sell like crazy!
Harley3k @ Jul 2nd 2008 4:03PM
Jesus H. Christ...when will people learn to take a decent photo? It's digital age! You can instantly look at the photo you just took and see that it is crap and take another one. Even with crappy cell phone cameras, there is no excuse.
Jim @ Jul 2nd 2008 4:42PM
haha...if that's a Sprint employee...he won't be for long as the reflectiveness of the device is likely to get that dude's ass busted by their sercurity hounds.
Thomas Byron @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:19PM
It's the HTC P3702 Victor (Taiwanese Version - they don't seem to like edges over there. They did the same with the touch cruise). Different Case, same inside. T-Mobile has announced it as the MDA compact 4.
And here is a sharp pic of the phone

Grakle @ Jul 4th 2008 1:16PM
Telus website says 4gb.
max @ Jul 5th 2008 9:44AM
wow, props to Sprint for destroying the beautiful Touchflo 3d
JASTECH @ Jul 8th 2008 12:01AM
Verzion is getting the Diamond and the Touch Pro but they may cripple it too. I am thinking of jumping ship to AT&T as I like the Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia. It beats the Diamond well enough for my taste. Does T-M have GSM? I gather do to the complaint above. Well AT&T is GSM so I hope they have good coverage and CS.
Chuck @ Jul 25th 2008 12:23PM
due : adjective 1 owing or payable. 2 expected at or planned for a certain time. 3 (often due to) merited; fitting.
Don't confuse this with "do."
You're : contraction of "you are."
Don't confuse with: "your"
your : possessive determiner, 1. belonging to or associated with the person or people that the speaker is addressing.
It seems that few of the people on the internet have graduated 5th grade grammar. It makes you appear unintelligent. I hope this is not the case. Grammar Nazi? A bit, yes. But when I hire people, (and I do) I look for intelligence and care.
