There's been a lot of chatter the past few days that the Motorola Q9c, a Windows Mobile phone launched on Sprint to little fanfare
late last year, has gone up to that great Windows Mobile 6.1 build in the sky now that it's disappeared off Sprint's online store. That'd really be something, considering that Verizon and others have
just launched it in the past couple months -- but not entirely out of the question, particularly if it's a dead-slow seller or is earning more than its fair share of tech support calls. For what it's worth, though, we touched base with Sprint on the matter and were informed that it's just "out of stock for direct ship" -- that's the stuff you see on Sprint's site -- but that it should still be readily available in retail stores.
On a related note, the
Curve is out of stock as well, but no need to panic there, either. Sprint tells us that they're experiencing some pretty crazy demand for the thing, but that they're replenishing inventory on a daily basis and it should be back online within a few days.

As a Sprint ATS rep, I can (totally unofficially!) attest to the fact that it doesn't earn more than its share of tech support calls. We very rarely get calls on it at all. That does lead me to believe it doesn't sell very well, though. Calls on the 6800 Mogul are the majority of our PDA calls. The 6900 comes in second, and the Treos are close third. I think there are more Qs out there than Q9Cs, and even taken together they're both like maybe a tenth of our total call volume, if that much.

You didn't happen to ask when the red Curve was launching on Sprint did you? That would've been some pretty cool info to disclose.

Since when is Sprint relevant to ... well, anything? Outside of lowest-common-denominator provider service and support, that is.

Funny, because I was just thinking the very same about you and your highly irrelevant posting :)

I'm sure one day, someone will tap you on the shoulder and let you know when you have an opinion worthy of consideration, even if it's only one of a personal attack nature. Keep hope alive!

Backbeat, check out today's WSJ. Time to free up some bandwidth for a new attitude towards Sprint. Wall St. is. Be a skeptic if you like but comments like that aren't current and aren't particularly enlightening.

Tell it to all those economically viable interests positioning themselves to take over Sprint once they fall over themselves just one too many times.

"That's really be something"
Is it me or is that bad grammar?

Nope, not just you - fixed, thanks!

Umm..don't know who your "sources" are but I can tell you first hand the Motorola q9c in its current form went "End of Life" on 6/8/2008. If you do see it online again it will be a discounted clearance price or a dwindling amount of whats left. Surprisingly so did the Blackberry Pearl 8130 on 6/15, we just still have stock of it. And don't count on the BB 8330 in red on 7/13 because if we can't get Titanium how we suppossed to get Red? The same high demand/low inventories will likely delay that one till late july early august time frame.

Source?? How do you know that the Moto Q9c went out of sale? Do you have a link?

I was told that Sprint dropped so much money into the marketing of the instinct that they put all new handset purchases on hold until the beginning of Q3 so that they can should a profitable Q2. Curves and Q9's should be becomming available any day now and I expect the curves will fly off the shelf, doesn't much matter to me though, i've had mine for 3 weeks lol
