LG Dare on sale June 26?
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, as they say -- and along those same lines, we've found that a phone in the hand is worth two in the press release. We're sure impatient Dare hopefuls would agree with that sentiment; it's all well and good that Verizon has gone official with the thing, but when can we plunk down cash? The carrier's initial statement of "later this month" was a little vague, and fortunately, the interwebs are starting to come to the rescue with rumors that online availability will kick off on June 26 with in-store and telesales following on come July 3. That gives Instinct owners at least a few days to gloat, so enjoy it while you can, boys and girls.

I certainly hope this is true. It has been speculation for about a week now, but we will certainly find out soon enough.

is there no end to the number of touchscreen lg phones that verizon is going to release? come on!!! LG is crap! the verizon user interface stinks!
reuvypoo @ Jun 18th 2008 11:44AM
This is the third, if you want to count the Venus (though I don't). The Voyager is crap and has a full keyboard, while the Dare is full touch, and supposedly has a MUCH better touchscreen. LG's are actually really good phones, with the best reception (except for some Motos) in most areas. And most have really good quality builds. The UI on the phone is actually very new and looks much better than the old UI. It seems much more intuitive and pretty than the traditional fare. Also, don't bash, If you don't like it, what is the point of posting?

@reuypoo
I wholeheartedly agree, LG does make good phones and i don't see jake h. making valid arguments to prove why lg phones are crap. But i do have to agree on verizon interface is crap as in terms of looks and features. It's like cutting a leg off a person.
yode @ Jun 18th 2008 12:37PM
This phone is actually moving away from the VZW interface, it has an LG ui
VZWguy @ Jun 18th 2008 11:58AM
@Jake
seriously?
do you people even have an IQ when you post or is it just every time you see a verizon item it
"OMFG UI SUCKS HAHAHAHAH FIRST!!"
forst of all it has flash UIs, wich means it has several UIs, based off the LG one, that looks almost nothing like the old red verizon ones, as a matter of fact there is no more red verizon UIs on any new devices for verizon. secondly the Ui is now crap IMO. every phone is different, just like the manufacturer UIs. great for the ONE guy who owns it, horrible for anyone trying to help a customer out. the reason they had a simple UI was because people are simple, the consumer is ignorant and dumb, much like you, and you have to make it uniform and basic.
you do know that ATT and sprint change the manufacturers UI as well to their own colors, buttons and limitations right? oh...I'm sorry, that is right, you are just another one of THOSE people...let me help you
"O rly? UI is dif now, for sur betta, u r idiot if you don't get it......second!!"
better?

I'm usually not one to make these comments but damn if this thing isn't a direct ripoff of the iPhone then I don't know what is!?
Proximity sensor, light sensor, accelerometer?? The two sensors are even in the same position as the iPhone!

I'm usually not one to make these comments but damn if the iPhone isn't a direct rip off of the Prada then I don't know what is!?
Candy bar, touch screen, thin and compact?? The screen is even on the same side of the phone!
FAUguy @ Jun 18th 2008 2:51PM
All new HDTVs have ....1080p, HDMI, better contract.
And cars have seats, wheels, a/c, windows.
Just because its similar doesn't make it a rip-off!
j_key_boy @ Jun 21st 2008 5:30PM
Sorry sir but really, what else do you want the phone to look like? Just like the above comment about TV's, it's not exactly unbelievable that all touchscreen phones have... touchscreens on the front : /

I know right? but the Prada, Voyager and Dare can send MMS messages and remove the battery without sending it to LG!
Paul @ Jun 18th 2008 10:35PM
If i had the money, i would educate people by making a commercial about how Apple ripped off LG's Prada and made the Iphone. I would show this commercial on every tv station in this country. So many people have no idea that this is where the Iphone idea and design came from and most people in this country have never heard of the Prada. Then these little punks run their mouth about how all these touchscreen phones are trying to be like the Iphone. BULL CRAP.

If i had the money, i would........)
Well Paul I've got the hook up on the video production so if you find a backer we could make it happen. - I've ordered the Dare for only $99 and also received an 8gb memory card for free also. If its time for your new every two and you're not scared to ask for the instant mail in rebate then you could get this phone for cheap. I'm sending back the Samsung I-760 due to the crappy reception and also the BS interface, and also due to the bulk and weight of the phone. I bought the alluminum case for it and that was even crap also. There was no lock on the case so when the phone drops, it falls out of the case. Wow! I know! Its kinda pointless to even by a case for this $500 phone anyway. Anyone else had any problems with the i-760.
TheWatcher @ Jun 19th 2008 6:49AM
Hey Paul if you just search around you tube you'll find that people have already done this. Check out the below link!

has anyone heard about pricing for the dare? like with new 2 year and without?
i really want to get my hands on one!
tra la la @ Jun 21st 2008 3:53AM
well, if you figure that the Voyager just had a $100 price drop (to $249.99, before rebate), that should give you some indication that the Dare is probably going to fill the open slot. I don't know firsthand, but I would garner a guess at $349.99 w/ 2yr, plus rebate.
The D Train @ Jun 21st 2008 2:10PM
249.99 with 70$ MIR so 179.99 july 3rd in all retail outlets.
bobby @ Jul 18th 2008 12:30PM
It's available on http://www.pixycell.com/verizon-dare-vx9700-cellphone-p-304.html for 489 w/o the contract.
