Android on a Nokia N95 captured on video
We don't know too much about the clip you're about to watch, but we can tell you this: someone has apparently gone and gotten Android up and running on a Nokia N95, and they've captured it on the lowest quality video we've ever seen. It's unclear whether this is natively installed or not, but it seems to be getting data (as you can see Google Maps doing its thing). The dialer is also brought up and appears to make a call -- but it's pretty hard to know if that's just a demo of the app or if this guy actually has a semi-functional Android device. Check the video after the break and judge for yourself.

Always too easy to read too much into these things but the map starts up with Ukraine as the default location and the text is in Russian.

Pile of ass video quality. Thanks for wasting my pasta salad time.

Wow, so apparently the N95 can play full screen video showing Android.
Faroos @ Jun 19th 2008 2:30AM
This seems to be a full-screen video playing on the nokia device.

I would second that.
From the comments:
"and I'm really not sure how exactly Ive ported it, but I'll try to make a tutorial or/and an explanation as soon as i get a conformation from "Google"."
Yup, yah. Woops, I ported Android, how the hell did that happen?
danny @ Jun 19th 2008 10:09AM
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a total fake. Given the architecture of the N95, it'd be very hard (if not "impossible") to get Android running at any decent speed on this thing. Nevertheless, it's news-worthy. Simply because there's nothing else in the news regarding Android :-/
Release a phone already, Google!

Umm it has a 330mhz arm processor. That is faster than nearly all phones out there today. Also, google has the n95 in mind with all apps as google maps etc run great on the n95 and take advantage of native features.
konceptz @ Jun 21st 2008 4:26PM
@michaelp
the 333mhz on the n95 isn't really all that good. the new nokia phones are all 369mhz+ and the iphone is clocked at 400mhz.
the nice part of the n95 is the dual processors for s60 and phone functions as well as the reasonably powerful graphics chip.
Atanas Boev @ Jun 19th 2008 4:21PM
Does not matter if it is legit or not, the point is that android would look better on n95 than s60 does:)
