Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot C905 breaks cover with 8.1 megapixels in tow
Paris who? Sony Ericsson's let yet another one slip out of its fingers before the official announcement, this time around a killer slider said to be the Cyber-shot C905, codenamed "Shiho." If the rumors pan out, it's got one heck of a rap sheet, too, starting off with an 8.1 -- yes, eight point flippin' one -- megapixel camera with both xenon and LED flashes (for still and video capture, respectively), GPS, TV out, DLNA certification, and HSDPA in your choice of European and American flavors. The screen's apparently just QVGA, but in light of everything else we're hearing, we might just be willing to let that slide. It'll apparently be announced on the 17th of the month in gold, silver, and black for a fourth quarter release. Wowza!

is this their smart phone UI or no? Cause I need multi-tasking or its a def NO
Al @ Jun 11th 2008 12:30AM
Not a smartphone, but really good for a feature phone.
I think it can multitask java apps.
greenlight @ Jun 11th 2008 2:26AM
Even Sony Ericssons regular non-smartphones can multitask between several java apps (i usually run opera mini, google maps and jmIrc at the same time), the mp3 player, sms, email, timers, bluetooth incoming files and calendar sync at the same time. Sony Ericsson easily has the best non-smartphone OS.

What a waste. 8MP imagery and no VGA screen to show them off.
Also UI is "ok" for a phone. But again, it's a waste not to have a smartphone in this day and age.
soulsaber @ Jun 11th 2008 8:37AM
not everyone needs a smartphone
TareX @ Jun 11th 2008 9:06AM
Nobody needs anything except air, water and food. But definitely, "'most people" "could make tremendous use" of a smartphone.
Pdexter @ Jun 11th 2008 10:00AM
Almost 20 mm thick and 2,4 screen, but hopefully it's less of a k850i and more like those old 3mp SE pohones where cyber-shot actually ment quality. Now Nokia and Samsung have been totally in a different level compared to them.
+ Eldar from MR who had a change to test this said it didnt seem anything special compared to what Nokia and Sams have in their pipeline.
Of oucrse it havent even been announced yet so we will see, but after 2 years of sucking from SE side i'm not too optimistic. It could be that they have finally done something and made some work for that product.

DAMN!
thats amazing
so thatis wg=here all of the extra money we have to pay for sony over other brands go-to research and development for an "eight point flippin' one" megapixel phone(plus all of the grand spectrum frequency capabilities it offers
i would say this is gonna make you wave away easily $400 if ya want wanna these
even though(its a sony right?) it polly costs about $75 to manufacture
only sony can pull that off, but they pull it off in a sleek, sexy, and or provacative kinda way
which is why we crave BRAVIA and VAIO and PS3 and OLED sooo much
$e@alblaighter @ Jun 11th 2008 1:43PM
It's a super phone!!!Nokia is not able to make a mobile phone with 8Mp camera!

4th quarter my left buttcheek. The K850 was supposed to be available 4th quarter of 07, and it wasn't released until much much later.
Why do companies even bother making announcements like this so far out when they can't even keep those release dates? Release the announcement when the phone goes on sale, otherwise shut up about it already.
NightBlade @ Jun 12th 2008 4:27AM
Actually, the K850 was also released late September/early October.
It's Raining Meh @ Jun 11th 2008 7:28PM
Well I don't know about you but my K850 was purchased a month after it was released in Australia. In January '08.
I get the feeling they'll keep the schedule :)

Gotta love Stve Jobs. When he makes an announcement - he's on time.
