iPhone 3G (uh, mold) vs iPhone... fight!
Curvy huh? Obvious now that the iPhone EDGE and the pasty iPhone 3G manufacturing mold can be setup side by side. Injection molded thermoplastic for the win!

Huh? 3G iPhone post for the sake of 3G iPhone posting?

I thought the 3G iPhone were black or white, not .. baze? Haha sorry, but acutally it looks thinner. Can't wait and still can't believe Apple decided to give it to Scandinavia first with all "the big countries"
Reid @ Jun 10th 2008 1:47AM
Haha, using the MacBook Air measurement philosophy, it's thinner than a first-gen!
... using reality, of course, it's thicker...
flush headphone jack FTW. Now I don't have to carry around this stupid little extra plug for my E2's.
helloUser @ Jun 10th 2008 2:09AM
when the HELL did it become 'flush headphone jack' ?!?!
Its 3.5mm....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
imacmatt09 @ Jun 10th 2008 2:23AM
Flush means even with the case so that you don't need and adapter to get your $200 headphones working on your iphone. I had to buy the adapter but it has a mic on it so it wasn't that bad of an investment.
uhit235 @ Jun 10th 2008 2:23AM
@helloUser
From engadget's hands on, read the last part carefully:
The headphone jack is flush, as mentioned. It's still 3.5mm, so if you don't like the out of box phones (which won't stay in our ears), bring your own, no problem -- and no adapter needed!
Schut @ Jun 10th 2008 1:51AM
Definitely easier on the pocket. I like it.
Chase @ Jun 10th 2008 1:52AM
It almost looks like it wouldnt sit flat on a table, like it would roll over onto one side because of the curved back...
m @ Jun 10th 2008 2:29AM
Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down.

wow...what a post
Think_tanker @ Jun 10th 2008 2:27AM
There is something to be said about metal vs. plastic. Part of the reason I got my MBP is because I held my friends macbook and thought it felt cheap. I have an iPhone Edge and have to say that I like the "coolness" of its metal. Call me old fashioned, but curvy and cheap feeling doesn't float my boat. Mind you the GPS would be nice...damn, I wished they made a pro version of this to satiate my metallic needs.
Alex Lau @ Jun 10th 2008 4:17AM
AGREED.
i hate the new back and the thicker back. Well, if it was aluminum, maybe that's be okay, but or else.... NAHHH i might as well skip out since i have a JB iPhone on TM
Striker @ Jun 10th 2008 2:29AM
I don't think Apple should have made the back completely convex, as the thing will spin like a top on a table, and wear down the contact point from when it vibrates on a table, the center of the back should have been flat and should taper into a convex curve. Ah, fanboys, because of you I am on a downvoting spree lol.
Reader @ Jun 10th 2008 2:31AM
Well this is just shameless now...
Thomas Morley @ Jun 10th 2008 2:35AM
just found out iphone in uk will be free on £45 a month and above tarrifs and will be available on payandgo for possible £299.99
boss-hogg @ Jun 10th 2008 2:36AM
so what does this do to the price of the original? and what happened to all those refurbs that at&t had? i hope i can get a 1.0 16gb for a steal of a price. and just use it for apps and mp3 player.
danny @ Jun 10th 2008 2:36AM
i dont think the back will feel cheap at all due to the curve, i figure it would give it much more support and a stiffness. when i saw the first spy shots of the black glossy phone, i kind of hoped it was real, which it was, and i like it
Alex Lau @ Jun 10th 2008 4:18AM
they can't sell those no more.
boss-hogg @ Jun 10th 2008 2:37AM
that plastic looks like a scratch magnet! better get a case to protect it
Alex Lau @ Jun 10th 2008 4:15AM
CONS
1. FINGER PRINTS ON BOTH SIDES
2. SCRATCHES ON ALL THE PLASTIC
3. EASIER TO BREAK
1st gen FTW.
Alex Knutson @ Jun 10th 2008 2:53AM
Ignore these goof balls Engadget. Keep up the great work, and as well... keep those Iphone stories coming along too. :)
Cal @ Jun 10th 2008 4:09AM
looks like the bottom of that curve is going to get scratched to hell.
Spacedoggy @ Jun 10th 2008 5:18AM
iOverload!
Franchesca @ Jun 10th 2008 8:12AM
It looks like a Palm centro with that white rounded plastic.
I liked the older flat aluminum much more.
chris @ Jun 10th 2008 1:20PM
seriously for all of you complaining about apple posts, don't click them.., just complaining to complain
anyways, metal interferes with radio signals, plastic back = better reception
Fez @ Jun 10th 2008 4:39PM
Seriously Engadget, wtf!?
Too many pointless Iphone posts.
