iPhone vs. HTC Touch Diamond vs. Xperia X1... Fight!
Would you look at that: a thick slab of iPhone meat in a Sony Ericsson and HTC sandwich. The iPhone's big screen is nice and all but the device is starting to look a bit portly given that the Xperia X1 sports a QWERTY with chewy HSDPA data, the latter shared with the Raphael Touch Diamond. Tasty, regardless.
Update: Er, that's not the HTC Raphael, it's their Touch Diamond.
[Thanks, Al]

Wow, why the iPhone is included with two next-gen phones I have no idea. When the 3G iPhone comes out, then include it, but I mean c'mon. Include the Raphael in place of the iPhone in this group.

Well, if you remember, Steve Jobs said something along the lines of, the iPhone is 5 years ahead of it's technology. So I guess it's considered, a next gen after this next gen type phone.
I actually think the iPhone is going to be a bit thicker than the original. But not to much, a few mm.

does it really matter? 3g iphone is just the speeds its pretty much gonna be the same phone. anyways too bad the htc dream isnt included. it looks like it may kick all their asses

If you want to include the HTC Dream, might as well also include the MWg Flame II as well. Both are big phones and both will use "next gen" OSes, Android and WM7, respectively.

The iPhone looking portly? The Xperia look about 40% thicker, QWERTY or no, that thing is going to make a big dent in your pocket!
konshuss @ May 30th 2008 4:25PM
i think the point was that the xperia being only the slightest bit thicker makes the iphone look "portly" due to the fact we're talking about a phone with a slideout keyboard, compared to one without. and that touch diamond is downright sweet looking. let's face it folks, the hype machine is grinding to a halt - no '5 generations ahead of its time' bs flies anymore, the iphone is quickly being shown as just another phone.
bcohen1983 @ May 29th 2008 9:59AM
Yeah, that'd be the Diamond, not Raphael. Otherwise that'd be one skinny QWERTY!

I like Sony Xperia X1. I want one.

i agree with dave. the iphone has no business being in there. however, the 2 are winmo devices so i guess its only fair that they throw the only apple mobile device in. but in place of that iphone SHOULD be an android device, then that would be sweet. android vs 3G iphone vs winmo7...fight. cant wait for that.

The iPhone is there to serve as a size/shape perspective since most of us have actually seen one in person.

Xperia X1 wins. Fatality.
BluesK1d @ May 30th 2008 4:59PM
There is a whole lot more crammed into the X1 that is not found in the iPhone than just a keyboard.

From what I see the Xperia X1 looks like an amazing phone. Who knows when will it be available in South Africa?
