XPERIA X1 specs get further detailed in new white paper
Sony Ericsson's white papers have already provided plenty of details on its much-anticipated XPERIA X1 handset, and it looks like its latest one is no exception, with it shedding yet more light on the device's specs. Most notably, Sony Ericsson has now confirmed that the device will ship with 256MB of SDRAM, in addition to 512MB of NAND Flash, and it's gotten specific about the device's battery life, which it says will clock in at 10 hours talk time using GSM or 6.5 hours using UMTS. That'll take a further dip to 3.1 hours if you're making video calls all the time, with 3.5 hours required to recharge the 1500 mAh lithium polymer battery once its drained. Hit up the link below if you're looking for some more reading material to bide your time until the device's supposed September release.

As awesome as this phone sounds on paper, I'm afraid SE is going to be late to the game given that the iPhone v2. will likely be out well in advance of this phone. Plus it won't hurt that the Iphone v2 will likely be cheaper.
looks like Nokia will be a no-show for Q4...

And no one will miss them either (Nokia).
My concern with the X1 is that it has a flash for the camera but no red-eye reduction. One of the few "missing" features acknowledged in that sheet.
I'm not sure the X1 will suffer much at the hands of the iP2. They're going for a different audience. People who want a QWERTY are going to get a QWERTY, and those who prefer the Apple OS will go for the iP2.

I don't agree. I'm in the market for a QWERTY phone and the iP2 will have a touchscreen QWERTY keyboard just like iPhone 1. The more pictures of the supposed iP2 I see with its glossy white back, the more I want it but on the other side, I really love the X1's style and look. The downer for the X1 is the WinMo that I'm not used to. Very confused!

Video capture still crippled. I'll bet the US will be getting the X1a model.
Video capture
The camera also records video and which are stored in the phone or on a memory card. A video clip can be shared with friends or family as a picture message or e-mail, or using any available transfer method, such as Bluetooth™. The phone supports VGA size video recording at up to 30 frames per second.
•MPEG-4: 30fps at VGA*
•H.263: 30fps at VGA*
•H.264: 15fps at VGA*
*X1a model supports MPEG4, H.263 24fps encoding at QVGA only and not H.264

If i remember right, the iphone can't even record video out of the box. but what caught my eye was this:
"Audio:
MP3, AAC, AAC+, EAAC+, WMA v9, AMR, MIDI
.m4a, .m4b, .M4P, .m4v, .aac, .3gp, .mp4, .mp3, .mid, .wma
(wma playback only through Windows Media player)"
Apparently it plays protected itunes? and if it still has photoDJ like all other sony ericsson phones, you can remove redeye.

What a dilemma for me..... I have an iPhone ( and love it) but how to say no to the Xperia (crying)

Great phone, glad to see more deatils trickling through. Just hope SE don't get carried away with hyping this phone, last thing we need is another over-hyped, overpriced phone *cough iPhone *cough*.
fareed @ May 28th 2008 6:25AM
great phone with better talk time if we compare with htc diamond, anybody idea abt price
James Rouse @ May 28th 2008 8:15AM
Unless Jobs and Co. pull some serious tricks out of its hat the specs on the x1 will have the best on the market. WVGA, HSDPA, etc... Plus it's designed by SE but going to be manufactured by HTC. Can it really get any better? As long as HTC includes the appropriate video drivers this is the iP2 killer.
bcohen1983 @ May 29th 2008 10:15AM
I've been waiting for the X1 to come out.. but after hearing that the Dream could be a comparable QWERTY running Android, I'm curious to see that first.
