Blackberry Bold release dates, pricing leak out
Those of you dying to get your QWERTY on with RIM's hot new Blackberry Bold can start marking your calendars and stashing cash under the cushions -- release dates and pricing info have hit the tubes this morning. As expected, AT&T will get the Bold first in July for $300, while Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile customers will have to wait until September. Oddly, T-Mo subs will have to cough up an extra $50, which seems a little unfair. Of course, these aren't official dates and prices, so things are likely to change, but we'd say everything seems in the ballpark, wouldn't you?

Wait....if i understood correctly i thought Verizon (and sprint as well) were getting their version of the Bold come next year (named Niagra...or javelin or whatever). Did that info change and I miss it or were the niagra and javelin something else totally different?
LordObento @ May 16th 2008 12:35PM
Exactly. BGR, who broke details on the 9000 (Bold) said Verizon would get theirs May 9th of 2009, with dates subject to change. Verizon just got the Curve... why launch a phone of the same features to compete with itself.
Mankato @ May 16th 2008 12:32PM
T-Mobile's version of Bold might have HotSpot@Home capability. That can explain the extra $50.

Looks like the chart says UMA: No for the TMob version, which would mean No to H@H. Which would suXXors.
henry @ May 16th 2008 4:13PM
it doesnt really say "no", it just says "unknown"
Noah Kravitz @ May 16th 2008 11:07PM
It actually had said no earlier ... now it's blank. Hopefully a good sign. H@H is a nice feature, esp. if you're on TMob contract but get lousy reception where you live/work.

I would put money on the 3G iPhone coming in at $299 now, otherwise RIM would have jacked this up to $400.

Not surprising the t-mobile version will be more. If i'm not mistaken, the Curve too is more expensive on t-mobile than at&t
KJG @ Aug 12th 2008 6:47AM
Thats is because the T-Mo curve has Wi-Fi, the other Curves on other carrirers do not.
Stephen @ May 16th 2008 1:24PM
I also have trouble believing that Verizon is gonna put this out four months after introducing the Curve.
bob turner @ May 16th 2008 3:33PM
Why are the button so huge? Why not make them smaller and have more buttons, like a dedicated email or calendar button...
Also, why are the ends of the keyboard curved up? Wouldn't it be more functional curved down like the treos? Last time I checked when I move my thumbs that dont magically get longer.
I just dont like it... too big. Awesome features, hopefully they come out with a form factor thats more like the cruve, which i think is a great phone.
joe @ May 16th 2008 4:15PM
i'm curious, which version of the bold is the best, like sprint or T-mobile oe what??
and as for the curve, which one is better, the 8230 or the 8300?
gr8vibe @ May 16th 2008 7:13PM
I'm just glad that TMO is getting anything at all. I saw it said ATT would be exclusive, and I thought "Oh, no. Another iPhone disaster." Can't wait!! T-MO has the BEST data plans anyways so all you whiners can just eat that.
seanh1231 @ May 16th 2008 7:00PM
Yes, they do have the best data plans, but the WORST everything else.
Joe @ May 17th 2008 12:15AM
@seanh1231
They also have better prices for their voice plans than Verizon or AT&T.
Steven @ May 16th 2008 8:37PM
Ah man I had my heart set on getting the Verizon Curve when my NE2 is up in July. Maybe we'll have more concrete info on a release for this, I'd hate to get the curve and have the Bold come out not too long after.
Or the Thunder for that matter..
kanoflow @ May 16th 2008 11:31PM
i think that if they do release it in Sept, it'll be bc the blackberry pearl will be discountinued, i mean it has been out for a while now and if verizon is gonna compete they need power players...i know if it does come out ill definitely get it in november w/ my new every 2...thing looks so RAW
jordan @ May 18th 2008 2:58AM
i honestly think that the curve is way better looking then this phone idk about the guts of the phone but looks wise i would still go for the curve thsi reminds me of that sliver like phone that they offer at walmart as a tracphone i just dont find it appealing what so ever
Carl @ May 18th 2008 3:06AM
I think the pearl is still in the game for new blackberry users more so then the 8830 (I love my 8830) But everyone I know who is converting to blackberry is converting to the pearl then moving on to other device once they are addicted to the berry.
And I would have to disagree with those who say that tmo has the best voice and data (price) sprint took that role the day they went everything for 99 can't beat that. (But it sucks there tethering and Enterprise friendly data are another 50)
Berryfan @ May 25th 2008 9:31AM
Is the $300 price with AT&T contract? I would prefer to stick with T-Mobile...wondering how much an unlocked Bold will go for. I've seen some sellers offer a "Pre-Order" Bold for $800 - that's just plain insane!
in2eternity007 @ Jun 25th 2008 1:56AM
wait, so this is all happening in 2009. not july or september of 2008?!!!! =(
Tim @ Jul 14th 2008 5:30PM
I've got an 8830 from VZW, and I cannot wait till the bold drops to "upgrade".
Derek Cavender @ Jul 15th 2008 3:22AM
So does the bold come out this july for at&t or next year?and honestly with prices considered which will be the better phone the iphone 3G or the bold?
mallory @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:01PM
wait so when is the bold coming out for verizon users? i want it!
Harbajok @ Jul 30th 2008 10:19PM
