New Windows Mobile peeped in Microsoft Live Mesh video?

Granted this only gives us a glimpse -- by glimpse we mean only a few seconds -- of what could be a new version of Windows Mobile 7 running HTC Touch Slide handset. The media sharing magic of Live Mesh is what's at the center of this vid, from Mac, to Windows, to mobile, your pics and content will wander -- but the quick glimpse of the sliding pane on the home screen did make us grin a little bit. You can find the video after the break and if you don't want to sit through the whole affair, just zip to about the 30 second mark and you'll be home.

Looks amazing. Wonder if it will be that seamless though....maybe after a couple generations.
loosely_coupled @ May 11th 2008 8:36PM
"seamless" and "Microsoft" DO NOT going hand-in-hand. It will be a complete mess, and most regular users will have no idea how to use it, nor will it lend itself to any sort of simple usability.
I've been around much too long to believe any more of their crap...

wait....did that guy with a MacBook Air, also have a Zune?
How many types of people like that are there?
Ben Carroll @ May 12th 2008 9:58AM
are you trying to make fun of a rising breed?
I have several friends who own a zune and a mac. Zunes are great peices of hardware they come from a different place in the barren microsoft world. They should put those people into designing the next windows.

I'm glad to see this, however it would be really nice to know more about the overall plan Microsoft has. Both Microsoft and us know they are lagging in the UI and reliability departments (though I am definitely on the side that I would have a Windows Mobile phone over iPhone or Blackberry still for features, though after seeing the Blackberry Bold 9000 that table may even be turning) and I really wish they would let us know a little bit more so we can keep faith in them for what will happen with Mobile 7. Especially as a developer, why not make a cash contest like Apple or Google are doing with their platforms to help up the software, or provide us with expected features/beta SDKs so we can begin development? I think if this is done right Microsoft could do great, but I feel as though the mobile department has lost touch with Microsoft's "developers developers developers" business plan, something that I think is beginning to hurt them as Apple and Google are doing well.
