BlackBerry 9000 gets a name, introducing the BlackBerry Bold?

Isn't it just? Bold new design, bold new flavor? We're really not feeling the name here, but it may be that Waterloo's home team has decided to plonk the name "Bold" on the BlackBerry 9000. Perhaps they've just decided to tout the horn a bit with this wild and crazy departure from typical BlackBerry fare -- come on, check how rounded those corners are. Either way, the boldly large and curvy handset is surely going to cause a ruckus once announced and dropped on your local retailer's shelves. We're still feeling the name BlackBerry Clunk might have been better, but hey, that's just us.

What is the specific reason for wanting to (jokingly) call it the Clink? If you are trying to make a point, or even a joke, try not to be to vague.

I think some folks find the 9000 a bit big and bulky compared to, say, the Curve.
If the new interface works as good as it looks, I personally am willing to accept that shortcoming...

i hate this name. i don't think it's gonna help it sell either.

With all those specs they can call it the Blackberry Booger for all I care. I buy a phone based on specs and functionality. Not the cutsie name.

Watch out BlackBerry is getting stale. This is not bold just a minor minor update. NOW an Iphone is bold. Come on Blackberry we expect better.

lawl at this guys sheer fanboyness. i bet he self-stimulates himself to the 3-g iphone. "yeah baby, download me some moaning from iTunes!".
And people invented punctuation for a reason, use it.

hes right. blackberry is really lookling a lot like palm these days. with the same boring designs. 4 versions to a pearl. 3 to the curve. its really dull. the kickstart is the first new type of blackberry which is a breath a fresh air in their stale product like. this to be called bold they are on drugs. this is nothing close to bold. they are lucky they have the business customers on lock but theres only so many of those. regular users is where they are hurting themselves and its no wonder apple has been able to creep up to them

Its a short announcement so I'm leaning towards Bold Condensed (so I'm a type nerd). :D

i am new to shopping the smartphone market but as an objective observer ive learned a few things. HTC seems to have this thing locked up moreso than bb and apple.
if this had a touchcreen included with the trackball and qwerty, maybe a slider model option for bigger screen, it would be a bold device. apple is also late to the game coming up with a device with touchcreen, gps, wifi, 3g... the tilt was out what 2 or 3 years ago now? all of this is mushy evolution, nothing bold.
i am NOT an apple guy, but spec for spec this new 3g iphone is a blackberry killer no?
consider this, for business users who love their blackberries, an add-on physical keyboard for an iphone seems like an okay idea... however you cant add-on a touchscreen or subtract fat-clunkiness and lack of style from a blackberry can you? and then theres the whole web browser debacle we're still trying to engineer. come freaking on blackberry its 2008!!! bring it!
i'm sold on bb 9000/bold for tmobiles service not for the device, otherwise i WOULD get an iphone.
now that tmobile has 3g, its pretty much a done deal in october i'll be getting this new bb if its out by then. i want tmobs prices and their hotspot@home is the winner for me over anybody else. im also hopeful sling player will finally be giftwrapped by then for the blackberry... and kinda curious why its not on the iphone yet.
