Motorola iDEN software updates vanish into thin air
Alright, let's start firing up the conspiracy theory engines, shall we? Motorola's iDEN Software Upgrades site -- one of the first around to offer handset firmware upgrades directly to customers -- has been mysteriously pulled down with nary a clue as to the reason or when they might be back up. All we know is that they're "currently unavailable" and that we should check back at a "later time." We imagine new firmware builds for these rugged warriors aren't exactly the hottest thing going to begin with (and let's be honest, what percentage of iDEN users even knew this site existed to begin with?) but let's hope Moto has a plan to bring these back out nonetheless.[Via Unwired View and PhoneNews]

wow. that stinks. i was just about to see if there was any updates for the i570(pictured above in the article)that i'm getting monday. i really dont want to have to call a service center and be put on hold for 3 n a half hours just to find out either. plus i think my local service center charges $5-$10 for the "mandatory service fee" even just to look for the update, which is bogus.

What is that sound? Is it the sound of iDEN possibly dying?

iDEN is already dead
