Blackberry 9000 to come in EV-DO and EDGE versions codenamed Javelin and Niagara
We already got a somewhat vague peek at the 3G-less Blackberry 9000, but it looks like there are actually two upcoming models of RIM's new hotness on the board -- the EDGE version we know about, codenamed Niagara, and an EV-DO edition codenamed Javelin, slated for Verizon. Boy Genius managed to unearth quite a bit more information on these two, and unsurprisingly, they're basically the same as the 9000 we've already seen. Both have a 480 x 320 half-VGA screen, GPS functionality and 3.2 megapixel camera, but only the EDGE-based Niagara gets Wi-Fi. Of course, there aren't any ship dates or prices in the offing yet, but hopefully we'll know more soon.

Does the BlackBerry Curve even (as well as the 9000) have GPS capabilities for various apps on Verizon Wireless (not just their shoddy maps application)? Anyone know this?

The CDMA Curve DOES come with GPS and since the Curve still uses the Blackberry OS, you can always download Google Maps for mapping purposes. I'm sure that it will come bundled with some type of GPS-specific program or you might have to pay extra for it.
I personally have the GSM Curve on T-Mobile. Wifi, but no GPS.

Nice looking Blackberry Javelin for Verizon but i'm waiting for the Touchscreen Blackberry coming later this year or early in 2009.

Anybody heard of Unlimited Worldwide Data Plan from Datalocking. Sounds pretty good-for Blackberrys. Anyone tried it yet?

How will this compare in size to the Curve for Verizon. Is this phone smaller or bigger? What are the major differences in Domestic US capability/design/functionality between this and the Curve? Thanks to anyone with the inside info or speculation!
