T-Mobile touting dollar-a-day prepaid service
T-Mobile's looking to expand its prepaid offerings, branching beyond the typical minute allowances to offer its new "Pay By The Day" service which -- you guessed it -- charges for service by the day. One dollar per day, to be exact, nets you unlimited nighttime calling and unlimited calling to other T-Mobile numbers, while other calls will run you 10 cents per minute. At the end of the day, you're shelling out $30 a month on average for the ability to yap until you're physically unable to speak any longer, as long as you don't call out of network during daylight hours. For night owls, this could be a boon.[Via RCR]

The big two (at&t/Verizon) have had variants on this plan for a couple of years...
Rick @ May 1st 2008 1:29PM
Rogers has had this for quite a while and honestly, if you look at it, you're better off getting a 0 dollar phone on a term and pay like $5 more instead of paying 10 cents a minute otherwise...or even activating a phone you already own on a month to month plan. Personally I'm biased against pay as you go, in the long run, contract or not, it's way more expensive unless you only use it a couple times a month and don't text at all...

yes, but some people have very large deposits so it's hard fro them to get contract plans

alltel has had these plans since the end of 05. theirs also have unlimited text and calls to one number

I don't know how this is more important than T-Mobile launching 3G voice and DATA today in New York.
Mike @ May 1st 2008 2:39PM
It is much more important, because they aren't rolling out 3G Data... Way to keep up with current events.
Nando @ May 1st 2008 2:55PM
People in NYC saying that TMob's 3G is voice + DATA after checking their 3G TMob phones today:

Why this sounds EXACTLY like VZW's InPulse prepaid service except unlimited calling within VZW is better than unlimited calling within T-Mobile.
Matt @ May 1st 2008 3:00PM
@Mike lmao Maybe you are that one that should be paying attention. Supertard.
texan @ May 1st 2008 4:16PM
@will Thats why T-mobile has FlexPay no deposit you just pay each month up front. (I work for T-mobile) Also on this plan you only pay for the day whenever you start a call on that day , so if for 3 days you dont use your phone then you dont have to pay for it. And this does not apply to Text Messages so if you Text then its fine you wont be charged the $1 that day unless you start a phone call.
elgee02 @ May 1st 2008 6:07PM
Yep, this is E-X-A-C-T-L-Y like VZW's Inpulse core plan, that confirms it.

What's with Engadget not posting anything about today's 3G dealie with T-Mobile? Also, why hasn't The Boy Genious posted anything neither?
Has T-Mobile gotten to them to be quiet or something?
