Mug shots of Verizon's Nokia 6205
What's blue, silver, and boring all over? If you guessed the Nokia 6205, well, you clearly knew something about the phone you were holding back to us -- but nonetheless, go ahead and give yourself a gold star and a pat on the back for a job well done. The low-end flip for Verizon, which we'd mentioned not long ago, has finally been exposed in all its entry-level glory; don't get us wrong, we're delighted that Espoo seems to be back in the thick of the CDMA hunt, but we think we're going to hold out for something just a little more visually stimulating than this. The lack of EV-DO isn't helping its case either, though we suppose the external controls and camera flash are welcome additions for the folks who actually hold out until its alleged mid-June release.
Update: Peep that little "EV" signal strength indicator up there? Looks like there might be a 3G radio hiding in this one, after all. If so, kudos, Nokia! Thanks, VZW_Emp!

The Nokia 6205 will have EV-DO. You can even see the "EV" indicator on the screen. Here is the call-out specs on the phone from VZW's Equipment Guide: "A mass market device featuring clean, classic styling incorporating premium materials of metals and a soft touch around the sides for grip and durability. It offers easy to use features like calendar, contacts, voice recognition, has a 1.3mp camera and a battery that lasts 4 plus hours. The external music keys and the (large) 60MB of on-board memory, plus the external memory, allows easy access and massive storage of music and video offered via VCast services." This phone will definitely have EV-DO/VCast capabilites.

Article states "lack of EVDO", but on the phone there are 1x and EVDO signal strength indicators. HMMMM...

"Refresh!" :) Chris has already updated the article! :)

Maybe I'm missing it, but I only see 1X in the signal bar.

KRZR much?

The EV-DO part is erroneous from everything I've heard at Nokia CDMA. The BREW UI image is a mockup pasted onto the screen.

This should be the first non-pantech nokia for VZW in a long time right? If nokia is actually making these phones then it will be a much needed change from the LG flooded market.
