Rumored Prada II specs surface in purported leaked press release

It looks like those that have been holding out for a new and improved Prada phone from LG could soon be getting their fix, at least if a purported leaked press release is to be believed. According to Taiwan's ePrice, the Prada II is supposedly on track for a release in the fourth quarter of 2008, with it bringing with it a whole host of upgrades that some may say sound suspiciously like a wish list. That includes quad-band GSM, WCDMA 900/2100, and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA connectivity, along with a 5-megapixel camera (with support for video calls), a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, TV-out, and a microSD card slot. Oh, and a slide-out QWERTY keypad. Needless to say, while we certainly wouldn't bet against a Prada II of some sort coming out this year, it's probably best not to get your hopes up too much about each and every one of those specs just yet.

so great, right about the time we're (finally) getting the shine/prada/vu/vu2, the prada2 will be released. that puts us what, about a year behind europe?

No it does not, If you want buy the phone unlocked and use your ATT or T-mobile sim card. If you have a CDMA carrier then switch over to ATT or T-mobile and buy an unlocked phone. Do not blame carriers or the US, blame your fellow country men that want subsidized phones or free phones. That is why they do not come state side. Why would LG launch a phone at $500 to $600 when only a select few will buy it. Or why would US carriers who subsidize the phones sell them when no one will buy them. Go into Verizon, ATT, Sprint, etc... and ask them which price range accounts for 75% of their sales. I bet they will tell you something like $50 to $100 phones. Americans in general, do not want this technology. People in Europe do not mind spending money on nice cell phones, in the US they do.

@Toly:
So what does that say about American and European materialism?

whoa simmer down there chief! i didn't blame any carriers. i didn't even give a reason. i know i could go buy an unlocked phone if i didn't want to use the 850mhz. OR, i could just wait a year for it to come to the us.

American materialism I would say I guess is different than Europe's when it comes to cell phones. Last time I visited Europe I was amazed at how many people knew their phones. All my friends and relatives knew everything about cells phones, they were talking about who's got the Moto V600, Nokia 8100, Siemens x34, etc... not sure if the Siemens is a really model but you get my drift. They knew model numbers, and features of all the phones. I mean I could walk up to any young kid or adult and say I want the new Motorola Z754 or Nokia T342 and they would be like "o no you dont want that it doesnt have polyphonic ringtones, and you cant mms with it, you want the Nokia S345 or the Motorola Q342.

I didn't mean that response towards you, I was just pointing out some reasons as to why we wont see this phone in the US, sorry if it came off wrong.

You can get carrier branded phones like the Nokia N95, N82, E71, etc, etc at subsidized pricing in Europe. Your argument has failed.
So why again shouldnt they bring subsidized versions of these phones to america? Doesnt make sense does it?
Nokia N95 can be had for free with a contract in Europe. Im sure a lot of americans would go for that.
