Sony Ericsson's G502 candybar breaks cover
Anyone hoping for another UIQ-based superphone can avert their eyes right now, but otherwise, hold on -- Sony Ericsson might just be onto something with its upcoming G502. The sleek black candybar should freshen the dead center of SE's lineup with a QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera, HSDPA, Memory Stick M2-expandable storage, and the NetFront browser that's become a hallmark of Sony Ericsson's better non-smartphone devices. Rumor has it it'll get official on the 24th -- just two short days from now -- so get your popcorn ready, or whatever it is that you and your family do when you're gathering around the computer in anticipation of a new handset announcement.

Official annoncement is for tomorrow. Sony Ericsson said that G502 is the cheaper HSDPA phone in his catalogue. Another interesting features are the weather software and background RSS reading. And Exchange Activesync.

oh sony ericsson ... so good are your platform phone menus and nice little rss reader and media player apps ... so chunky is your k850i's profile ... so non-us-3g-ready is your sexy w890i ... can you just unleash x1 and p5 upon us at long last?

Who cares about these phones if no major U.S. carrier plans on stocking them? I was all set to ditch my beat up W580 for a K850, and then AT&T cancels it at the last minute, after getting it through the FCC and shipping promo materials to their retail outlets.

but what if I don't mind a 1- or 2-year contract and want a cheaper phone with that contract?

Hello?! The Z750a that just came out a few weeks ago at&t has in stock as well as RS. That is 3G and has an M2 slot for your card. Wish I waited for that;on my FOURTH W580;all had internal software issues and now the keys are cracking AGAIN!! Very disappointed.
