Remember how we said Verizon was
prepping a next-gen PTT launch right behind Sprint? It's still on, and we're starting to get a trickle of intel on at least two devices that'll spearhead the festivities. The first is going to be -- yep, you guess it -- a Motorola, the
V750 flip to be exact. The other is going to be the next episode in Casio's G'zOne series of niche-but-popular outdoorsy handsets, which will be known as the c711. Both feature EV-DO (including tethering capability), GPS, Bluetooth, cameras, media capability, and a fat ton of onboard memory, while the G'zOne adds a compass and "rugged styling," which we think is code for "it's not as tough as it looks." We're not sure whether these are still on track for a May launch, but that V750 we saw sure looked ready for prime time, didn't it?

if the c711 is what I think it is it should have come out ages ago and not after its Japanese equivalent has been discontinued.

Actually in my area all Non-PTT C211 devices have been discontinued. They have all been phased out and replaced with the PTT version. Now that PTT isn't a plan but a feature there was no real reason to have 2 devices that are exactly the same, save for PTT feature, for the same price.
The C711 will kick ass though. It is what the others should have been and then some. The G'zone line is surprisingly sturdy, haven't seen too many come back for being damaged, except for the idiots that "test" them by running them over or something stupid like that.

I actually had a cusotmer run his over with a tractor and it was just fine. I think he was testing it but he won't admit to it... Moron, it may still work but who drivers over a perfectly good phone?

Ran over with a tractor? I'll do one better. My 14 year old daughter had a 16 months and was working just fine but replaced with a upgrade (Rumor). I ran over a Sanyo 7300 where it popped out the battery, cracked the battery case and that's it (even on a hard surface). Still worked like a charm for another year till it got upgraded to a Sanyo MM7500. I've noticed customers flat phones seem to live longer when stepped on or ran over vs fat brick phones.

I checked that out, and that basically looks like the c511 with a hoop antenna....
i wish i could get a gzone with 8gb expandable memory, and stereo bluetooth

Verizon's PTT can't be Qchat as that technology was purchased by Nextel from Qualcomm before it's merger with Sprint.
