Telus picks up the LG Venus
Strong work, Telus! First you guys are pretty much on the ball with your release of the BlackBerry 8330 Curve and the Motorola Q9c, and now you've become the first Canadian carrier to offer the LG Venus -- and you're clearly reveling in it, too, since you point out on your product page that this is actually LG's first touchscreen phone in all of Canada. $99.99 CAD (about $100) of your customer's hard-earned savings is going to net them a 2 megapixel camera, QVGA primary display, microSD slot, GPS, EV-DO, and stereo Bluetooth, so we'd say you've done good -- for the moment, anyway. Keep up the strong work.

Be prepared for them to try to offer you a vastly inferior phone in three years and laugh in your face when you try to get something even close to equivalent...

Why do Canadians put up with those awful three-year contracts?
Khris @ Apr 17th 2008 2:12PM
Mainly because we have no other choice.
Personally I could care less as to whether or not I sign a 1, 2 or 3 year contract. I use Rogers and have no desire to use anyone else so I might as well sign for 3 years and get the best possible price I can.
jon.wiltzen @ Apr 19th 2008 3:55AM
umm, you can sign a two year you know and the price is only $50 extra for the phone. It's because people up here have been overly conditioned to sign that three year and don't know any better. But don't mistake yourself, the option is there and is very fair, $50 isn't that much more.

GREAT!! Now we have to wait for the other LG touch phones to come out. As for three year contracts I believe that will change after the auction at the end of may. I've been hearing t-mobile might be one of the bidders :) Hello side kick :)
