And no multitouch?

What is it with Nokia fanboys always comparing things to the iPhone. I know a lot of people compare phones to the iPhone, but nokia fans seem to do it almost religously; "a camera (with another up front based on the picture) which they say is "way better" than the iPhone's but not on par with the existing N-series shooters." That makes no sense at all. I have seen the quality of the N-series phones, and the iPhone holds its own to that regard.

In any case, this phone looks like the LG Vu (coming to AT&T) with different icons for the main screen. I have high hopes for Nokia as their phones always do well in regards to reception, but if you are going to jump on the candy bar style all touch screen phone bandwagon, do it right.

Jason Peterson

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

Jason, first of all, this is a LOWER END S60 touch device.

Secondly, the browser will be amazing considering that Nokia phones already have a technically better browser than the iPhone and with the addition of touch control it only becomes better.

Finally, are you trying to say that pictures from the iphone even come close to those from the n82? Who the hell wants a stylus of an operating system built upon that model?

Anyways, Nokia's hardware is generally very good, but to catch Apple they need to hire new software developers, new user interface designers, and usability consultants... The N95's browser is TECHNICALLY superior to that of the iPhone: Download files from the browser, Save images from the browser and of course FLASH (WITH VIDEO) SUPPORT. Trust me, I am not blinded by iLove. I am an iPhone owner, but that is strictly because of the easy to use interface, and the fact that I work for AT&T. I am actually not an Apple fanboy at all. I know there are phones with better/more features, I just think it is funny that Nokia is going to market this is an iPhone competitor then turn around and announce a better version is coming soon after. If Nokia makes a kick butt interface then it will have my vote, because ease of use is important in the big scheme of things. Value cannot always be determined by how much of something you get, but the overall experience of it and how well it is packaged. I assure you, I am only too eager for the day that another company actually does it better than the iPhone, and not just in the amount of features, but in the phone as a whole. For now, however, I will leave the stylus at home and enjoy my featureless iPhone.

Jason Peterson

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

Why are the other companies even bothering to put out touch-screen handsets if they've already got decent keyboard handsets? I constantly hear people saying that touch-screen input isn't even all that good, so why bother. Just have a slide out keyboard instead. Or don't bother to have so large a display. Not everyone wants to watch movies on a handset.

Constable Odo

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

Other companies bother to put out touch screens because there is a demand for it. And also because most manufacturers have been building touch screen devices since long before Apple introduced the iPhone.

As far as producing simpler phones with smaller screens or slide out keypads, I think it is already being done. Just take a look at the overwhelming majority of phones available to users today. Smaller screens, standard and QWERTY keyboards, flips and slides are the norm. Touch screens just get the most press right now because it is a trend most of the industry is following.

xB Owner

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

in fact nokia phones now have support for flash video right in the web browser

momchil karabulev

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

When will these companies realize that any "touchscreen" that doesn't have Multi-Touch or at least some sort of heat-sensitive touch capacity, are not true competitors to the iPhone? I was tempted to wait for several models such as the Voyager and Vu (and even this model seemed tempting, until it was revealed that it was pressure sensitive). However, the true ease-of-use and elegance that the iPhone exudes is all due to its Multi-Touch interface. Until a company releases a phone with a touchscreen of similar tech (like I believe, Samsung is trying to do) the iPhone will reign supreme in the touchscreen market.

Josh

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

stylus?

ALex

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

hi i am kaushlendra kumar .iam a fan of nokia .iwany buy a cellphone nokia.which have wi-fi gps gprs ,camera 3.2 mega and hifi internate email facility . uhave to send ur idea about 36000 rs.new technology and advance phone plz.happy nokia

K Kumar

Comments on Nokia's touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

Nokia product quality getting worse and worse.
