Remember that
AT&T iPhone survey that was floating around last year? The carrier's back at it again with another round of rather fanciful sounding upgrades and changes to the iPhone and the way it's sold and serviced. First up, AT&T wanted to know whether we'd upgrade to the 3G iPhone -- a device that "Apple and AT&T have announced," so it says. Next, we were presented with a series of "potential enhancements" (pictured) and asked how we felt about each one. In particular, DVR control and the ability to use the iPhone "as a credit card" caught our eye; we're not sure if they're suggesting NFC integration or something far less techy here, but if there's one way to light
NFC on fire stateside, it might just be support from the Apple mothership. Since the iChat app suggested in the last survey never materialized, of course, this could be nothing more than wishful thinking on AT&T's part -- not to say we can blame 'em.

and to add on to helixtimestwo lets not forget about 16 or 32 gigs as well.. i think the entire smart phone world and plus some will switch to iphone if the sdk's are everything weve been hoping for and more! that sounds like reasonable specs i just try not to get excited. i wonder if companies like telenav have been working with iphone/sdk for a product behind the scenes... it would be smart especially with nuvi phone around the corner! please steve jobs i know u and ur genius crew can do it! produce! please!

For DVR control: if the browser is good enough, couldn't you just use your DVR's website (for example "My Tivo") to set your DVR?
Not a fun process over EDGE, certainly, but maybe 3G? Assuming you happen to be standing right next to one of AT&T's scarce 3G towers? :)

I wonder how Apple is going to try to squeeze money out of SlingBox on this one...

Any sources for this news? I would like to be shure that this screenshot is not a mockup.

I would appreciate if we could get some LOG features, like :
Detailed CALL log, IN and OUT (in Minutes).
SMS delivery reports is a MUST!
Ironic, but I still use my old Nokia 3650 because of this feature, very importante one !!!
My iPhone is my IPOD for now.
The iPhone lacks a lot of features !
Cheers,
Olivier.

For those who keep asking about insurance I suggest they look into SquareTradeWarranty.com - I have insurance on both my iPhones (and some other devices) that was reasonably priced and covers for three years. You can use a coupon code today of "TAXRELIEF" to get a 30% discount. My coverage cost $35 for the three year period on the iPhone and, just as a point of comparison, $9 for a 3G RAZR that I purchased for $100 on eBay.
I have no interest in the company - my only interest is in helping people track down decent insurance for their devices... it took me a while to locate SquareTrade so I thought I'd tell others about it.

Seems pretty silly to me to ask users if they want some of these features. Seems to me that everyone's going to want the free stuff, then statistically, ewallet and remote features will be less significant, and that'll be a good justification for not doing them.
Statstically in 2002, probably not many users would have jumped for a 5GB MP3 player either.
