So HTC's holding down London on Tuesday, the 6th of May for some sort of product reveal that's presently cloaked in mystery. The invitation invites us to "witness the next wave of HTC Innovation," so it's gotta be good, right? One possibility is an unveiling of the
Dream, the rumored device that hopes to usher in the Age of Android with a bang; we're not so sure, though, since the first production devices to run Google's everything-killer platform aren't expected until the second half and there's still plenty of work left to do on the software side. Another plausible launch would be the spiritual successor to the Touch, a device that may be either the
Diamond or the Raphael; the 3G-less Touch is getting a little long in the tooth, after all, having been outdone in the spec sheet by its
keyboarded cousins. We're guessing HTC's going to be staying pretty tight-lipped about this one right up until zero day, so let the speculation run wild in the meantime.

what ever it is, if they dont have good video drivers on it, i'll continue to not give them my business.
Surur @ Apr 8th 2008 2:07PM
Its like the HTC Raphael and Diamond, with VGA screens, running the the Manilla interface, and that will definitely need video drivers.
Dave @ Apr 8th 2008 8:41PM
yeah maybe the next wave of HTC innovation will include video drivers and actual customer service
slamEVIL @ Apr 8th 2008 12:39PM
i bet one thing they will announce is that the xperia will be available immediately. htc + sonyericsson = something london should go crazy for right? i know i will.
Noah Kravitz @ Apr 8th 2008 1:17PM
I highly doubt that one. At CTIA, folks from both parties were very much of the "X1 is all SE. HTC just built it off their design," stance. I think something new is coming.
Nick @ Apr 11th 2008 1:26PM
It could be the release of the HTC Diamond! Touch II anyone? http://digg.com/gadgets/HTC_to_reveal_HTC_Diamond_on_May_6

ilkhan @ Apr 8th 2008 1:02PM
agreed. Adding 128MB of RAM to my mogul would be enough for me to upgrade to.
helixtimestwo @ Apr 8th 2008 1:38PM
join the other 82% of the world and get gsm service
James @ Apr 8th 2008 1:17PM
Maybe they will announce all current HTC devices will get video drivers!!!!!!! :D

I'd like to see an update to an old form factor, the HTC blue angel/SX66. That device had a 3.5" touch screen and a Full QWERTY keyboard that slid down from the bottom of the phone(much like the touch dual). It was great for one handed operation.

I'd love to go HTC, but I have a minor problem... I bought the car but they didn't put in a steering wheel. The company will be making a new model next year with one though fortunately, I'm sure you understand.
NuShrike @ Apr 8th 2008 1:40PM
Sounds like a great idea to go there and bash HTC there for giving customers the bird.
Riley Freeman @ Apr 8th 2008 1:48PM
@ helixtimestwo
that would a good idea if we didnt minda getting the crappy test version of the phone. and while its later the improved version of a phone is nice.
htc touch gsm versin is terible
and before ut hrow an iphone argument out there rememebr they went to verizon FIRST.
and CDMA rules in north america
MBS @ Apr 8th 2008 1:59PM
And London totally is in North America too...
And no, CDMA does not _rule_ anywhere.
helixtimestwo @ Apr 8th 2008 3:23PM
and HTC thought so much of CDMA that they made a TyTn II/Kaiser/Tilt version for Sprint and Verizon, no, wait, they didn't...and now the xperia is a GSM only phone.
There is a reason that GSM carriers have more hardware choices and more innovative devices that offer better flexibility than CDMA carriers. Why would they want to sell to just 18% of the population..?
Dave @ Apr 8th 2008 8:44PM
CDMA sucks and so do its proponents. AT&T may not have the best overall cell coverage in the USA, but it is the best of the big TWO (sorry, Sprint and T-Mo don't count)
Riley Freeman @ Apr 8th 2008 2:58PM
did i say london was north america. im talking about where msot of the people that visit this site is.
second it doesnt. maybe u should take a calculator and count up all the cdma customer in north america and all the gsm and see whose on top. then come tell me it doesnt rule.
TJ @ Apr 8th 2008 3:31PM
Is Engadget going to be there or will be getting the news second-hand?
Riley Freeman @ Apr 8th 2008 5:35PM
why do u bing up the xperia and say they didnt mae it for cdma. ITS NOT THEIR BLOODY PHONE. maybe u should read around more often. they had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DESIGN. they simply manufactured it. all design was sony ericsson. dont believe go read on wmexperts.com
BrianC @ Apr 8th 2008 8:36PM
Since it is about new innovations, I hope it would be something exicting like:
1. the support of mobile TV like DVB-T and DVB-H so that I can watch TV while on trips.
2. VGA screen and on a screen size like 3 inches
3. XGA output so that I can use the phone for broadroom presentation with a data projector
Put the above into something like TyTN II and I would be sold.
An_asshole @ Apr 8th 2008 10:41PM
HTC can lick my balls. I'll never buy another of their products unless and until they fix the GDI driver issue on the Kaiser. And hell, I don't even own a Kaiser anymore. I sold the slow piece of shit and bought an iPhone after they announced Exchange support. Its just principle at this point.
tim @ Apr 9th 2008 6:33AM
I sincerely hope someone goes down and "reserves their front row seat" with a bloody great big banner about the drivers issue. Someone needs to flashmob the place.
We bought the hardware HTC, where's our drivers?
Mesonto @ Apr 11th 2008 9:22PM
standard audio jack!
tamanaco @ Apr 12th 2008 9:03AM
What I'd like to see is a "Slimmer" Quad-Band 20-key HTC Touch Dual with True GPS, WiFi, VGA Touch Screen and a standard audio jack. Jeah!... Right!
might_be_waiting_for_9502 @ Apr 22nd 2008 10:39AM
whatever it is, it had better be:
VGA or better
HSPA or better
500MHz or better
256MB ram or better
8GB flash or better
GPS
SDHC
i'm sick of under-spec'd crap. i really do believe the m$ win mobile os can really perform... if the hardware could really push it.
Chris @ Apr 22nd 2008 4:51PM
