Android does one better at CTIA, plays Quake
While largely steering clear of the limelight, Android managed to make the occasional cameo at CTIA last week, including a prominent presence at Qualcomm. PC Magazine checked out a very fresh build of the platform running on some weird, giant, prehistoric-looking prototype handset running Qualcomm's MSM7201 silicon, but be cool -- the phone certainly won't see the light of day looking anything like this, and more importantly, it runs Quake at a nice clip. They've got a full gallery highlighting a new UI and the rather hilarious handset itself, so we really do recommend a quick peep.

But does it play--*looks at title*
Hrm, I guess it does. Carry on.

I love the way they show this amazing platform off-I like it a lot, looks very WinMo-ish, not a knock off, just similiar--on such a crappy made-just-to-display-the-platform phone. I guess it didn't want the display phone's form to take away from the platform's function. Anyway, I'm very optimistic about Android. Also, AT&T's looking to pick it up; that just makes it that much better for me.

I like Android as much as I hate Qualcomm, which should be the one chipmaker NOT involved with Android. This company sucks licensing rights out of every feature of their hardware (video drivers on kaiser, touch cruise, etc) and isn't "open" to anything except sucking the money out of your pockets.

My next phone will be an Android. I can't wait until this is final!

HAHA, love that pic near the end, "This site requires flash, you are using flash player version 0"
All in all, seems Android is coming along nicely. I think the thing I like most about it is that as far as I know, anyone can make an application to run on an android phone, (is this correct?). Such a far cry from the walled gardens of apps with carriers like Verizon.
