A close examination of the descriptions of Apple's 2008 WWDC sessions revealed at least one
iPhone gem, buried in the appropriately-named "Enhancing Your iPhone Web Application with CSS Transforms and Animations" overview: Safari's getting a little bit of an update. With firmware 2.0 baking to a delightfully golden brown right now in preparation for a
June release, of course, it only stands to reason that the iPhone's Safari implementation would get retooled a bit to pull in a more recent Webkit build and stay somewhat in sync with the headway Apple's browser has made on the desktop, and we now know that CSS transforms and animations will be supported as a part of that. What does that mean, exactly? In short, the feature allows web page elements to be twirled, zoomed, and skewed, making for some pretty eye-popping (or watering) effects. It's all going to be accelerated by the iPhone's hardware, too, meaning that the next ultra-annoying ad for some sketchy product that you view on your iPhone should
really fly.

Just get flash on the dang thing already.

I think you missed the last sentence. You should read it again.

I know, but what I was hoping was implied in my comment was that if you replace the subject of "CSS animations" with "Flash", then repeat the last sentence.
Basically what I'm referring to is the bit about ads being all over the place and annoying and I'm drawing a parallel to what would happen with putting Flash on the iPhone. I guess I was being too vague though.

yes you are to vague. yes get flash on the dang thing already

Mr./Mrs. CB17 good sir/lady. I see you think of flash as an ad annoyance. Thats understandable. But if it wasn't flash it would be some other form of data that was annoying you. Don't hate the player(Flash) hate the game(internet). With that said I find it's funny when people talk about how hard it's going to be to play games on the iPhone without buttons and who's gonna make all these games... Well AFAIK there are probably millions of flash games designed for mouse only input. That's just the tip of the iceberg of how Flash and a device with a sweet a88 screen work together very well.

Maybe they should figure out how to keep the damn thing from crashing on my iPod touch and then they should focus on that. I'm kind of disappointed each time my 16gb touch crashes Safari right after I update it to a version that I hoped would have fixed it. Apple should stop putting form over function lol, I can barely get the thing to work.

Don't know what you are doing wrong, but I use Safari all day and it nearly never crashes. In fact, I can't even remember the last time it did, and I routinely have the maximum amount of tabs open.

My iphone's safari only crashes when I have more than 3 pages open. this isn't a design flaw with safari but rather with the limitations of the devices' ram. Try closing open pages and I'll bet you'll have more success.

apple will never stop putting form over function.

I had sent it in for repairs thinking it was a RAM issue, but Apple Repair found nothing and sent it back. I just got it back today and it says that the problem could have been resolved when they did "routine resets and updates of the iPod Touch's internal software". The good news is that it hasn't crashed yet.

leave it to apple to focus on eye candy.
