Great news: the more
business-friendly alternative to the
white / green wild child is filtering into an AT&T store near you. Turns out that pre-production units were seen sporting both metallic and solid black paint jobs, but the final units are solid -- probably the best option, considering that this one will likely see time on a corporate boardroom table or two. Can't have those sparklies reflecting in the fluorescent lights, now can we?

Considering a BlackJackII refurb is 19.99 I don't see this doing too well in the near future... Palm OS is the suck.

palm isn't bad. people still use ms-dos, right? right?

So you're comparing Palm OS to MSDOS. You driving my point home... Palm OS was OK back in the day but it feels very dated to me. Feel free to rock the Garnet though...

palm OS is okay. it does a lot. the problem is it can't do two things at once (for the most part) and its UI is so ugly.
I have a Sprint Centro, I don't feel it's a spectacular phone... but its okay. I have an NES/SNES/Gameboy/Genesis emulator so that helps me hate it less.

Great, and I just got a new case for my 680... Been pondering the switch, but have to buy a stupid microSD card.

I picked up a black GSM Centro a few weeks ago from a retailer in the UK...one with sparkles. The Palm O/S is OK and the phone quality is generally fine. There are a few aspects like the thin toothpick-like stylus that I am not crazy about but all in all a decent package if you want to combine a Palm PDA and phone into one unit but don't want to carry around a Treo brick. Camera is also decent. Price was $300 FYI.

I should add the phone was unlocked...I am using it on T-Mobile at the moment.

My friend bought one of these this past weekend on Saturday at that AT&T Store at La Cienega and Beverly in Los Angeles. Cute little phone! He got the black one -- $99 with a contract renewal. $35 unlimited data+200 text data plan. Sucks you couldn't get the $20/mos plan. The agent said after you get the $100 MIR, call and change CSR and change to another phone (like a RAZR) and switch to MediaMAX.
