AT&T page mentions the LG Vu -- in two flavors
An eagle-eyed tipster noticed that AT&T's imminently-launching LG Vu superphone has finally made an appearance on an official page of the carrier's. A glance at the list of TTY-compatible phones lists the CU915 and CU920, seemingly confirming a rumor we've heard in various forms over the past few months -- that the Vu will be offered in two versions, one with and one without MediaFLO. The upcoming mobile TV service will only be initially launching in a fraction of the markets where AT&T offers 3G service, so it makes some sense that they'd ask LG to spin a special version of the high-end phone that could be offered elsewhere -- potentially at a slightly lower price point. We can only hope.

Soooo, won't Apple pitch a fit seeing as how their phone will be showed up by a potentially more reasonably priced phone with a similar sleek style and 3G?
It's a pretty cool looking phone and I think I could do one for my "secondary" phone, with my n95 as primary.

The LG Vu was announced to authorized dealers a couple weeks ago as a phone that would allow them to compete with the iPhone. My understanding was that it would not be available through AT&T corporate channels.

but it will have everything to do with corporate channels, you don't really think at&t will let it's only mediaflo device be sold exclusively through indirect channels do you?

Why do people still think that MediaFLO has to do with 3G data services? its UHF channel 55 that it goes off.

Read :)
AT&T is just choosing to launch MediaFLO (on UHF channel 55) in a subset of its 3G matkets (which is alreayd a subset of its 2G market)... Nothing to do with 3G!

You guys sure that the variances isn't for camera/non-camera?
RC @ Mar 17th 2008 6:00PM
It's not a business phone like the Tilt, so there isn't any reason to make a camera and no camera variant. Probably a MediaFLO and non MediaFLO version. Or different storage sizes.
youngcalihottie @ Mar 18th 2008 6:28AM
camera/no camera would make a lot more sense. hopefully thats what it is.
otherwise, this is f'n stupid! and we'll have another lg cu500/cu500v mess on our hands!
-thank you for calling at&t how may i help you?
-i cant get my mediaflo to work
-do you have a vu?
-yes i do
-hmm i dont know what the problem is. return it to the store
-welcome to the att store. how may i help you?
-i cant get my mediaflo to work
-do you have a vu?
-yes i do
-hmm i dont know what the problem is. call customer service
replace "mediaflo" with "video share"
and replace "vu" with "cu500"
and youll see the current problem that would just be getting duplicated with another phone and feature. so dumb.
just give them all mediaflo so it can be activated once the service is available in their area. *cough*tmobile doesnt cripple aws phones in random markets*cough*
