iPhone Dev Team jailbreaks firmware 2.0... before it's out
This is just getting silly, don't you think? The iPhone Dev Team has once again proven their totally gnarly talents by freeing up the latest firmware before it's even the latest firmware. Apple, here's our suggestion -- just let people do what they want with your devices, since they're clearly going to do it anyway. That way, instead of making enemies, you're making lifelong buddies. Reasonable, right? Steve, give us a call, we're more than happy to riff on some ideas for playing nice with the end-user.

Parental Controls are very interesting. although, Kids will be able to find a loop hole haha like proxy's and external servers.
Because at school we use proxy's and other stuff to get around firewalls and stuff ! can't wait to see the outcome ! ! haha ;)

Yes, because a small online enthusiast community is *totally worth* having to support the millions of idiots that will screw up their phones with program X.
Every single other phone manufacturer has kept their phones locked down with varying degrees of freedom for years. Why is Apple taking such a hard rap on this, especially given their history?

Because most people place phone manufacturers and carriers in a circle of hell somewhere south of the IRS and telemarketers, whereas most Apple users think Steve is a benevolent god who loves us and wants us to be happy. It saddens us to see Apple consort with and behave like the evil corporations that all other phone users have to deal with.

Also because the iPhone is a $400 "Smartphone" and smartphones are supposed to let you install your own apps. They are meant for power users!

its not really letting people do what they want but just make it obvious enough to us jailbreakers that we know youre letting us do it but you dont have to tell the press.
most of us are your friends already...

does this apply to the iPod touch as well?

Hey the iPhone Fanboys at Engadget have struck again with another one about the beloved iPhone. It never stops to amaze me how much they love this freaking phone. Considering it comes lock to AT&T doesn't support Java or MMS... But hey I can surf the web on my EDGE connection or those Starbucks Wi-Fi locations. Why would I wasnt to use my cell phone providers high speed data network..... Oh thats right thats because your ipod touch...woops I mean iPhone doesn't have that feature...
No I'm not a hater on the iPhone I like the design, love the GUI they use and its built on OSX so we know it will work unlike WinMo 6 / 6.1. Has access to iTunes but I think all those online sites are rip off doesn't matter what one you use. They charge way too much to some stupid singer that happens to come up with a hook to some song. Sure lets pay a rock / rap / metal / pop group millions of dollars to sing because they couldn't get any other jobs. But hey lets pay our teachers 18K in some states to teach our kids...
Well I get off my high horse

woops, think engadget hit a nerve there. as for rockbands earning
millions? yes, teachers, nurses and other social workers should earn
more, but as lenin/stalin/"insert communist ideologist here" once
said "your money is our money" and to that i say no thank you!
