BBC iPlayer comes to iPhone, not as interesting as originally thought
After a groundswell of hype that the rumored BBC iPlayer for the iPhone might be some crazy, Apple co-developed, SDK-usin' piece of kit, the reality is just a little underwhelming. Fact is, yes, the BBC-only streaming app has migrated to the iPhone -- but it's built entirely on the handset's existing technology stack, prior to the SDK announcement. Ah well, it's probably just as well considering that the content available on the beta-quality player is limited at the moment, and let's be honest: they're gonna need 3G to really rock, anyway.[Via TUAW]

I was expecting something at least a little different from the PC version, but it looks the same. The performance was alright, but that may be due to the fact that I was using a UK proxy to look at it. Its a nice service though.

Wow, I see someone takes the BBC iPlayer seriously.
Add an "i" in front of anything and it'll produce fanatics.
For instance: No one gives a damn about a pod, but make it an iPod, and we've got cult!

BBC website says:
"Rights agreements mean that BBC iPlayer television programmes are only available to users to download or stream (Click to Play) in the UK. However, BBC Worldwide is working on an international version, which we will make available as soon as possible."
Now that's lame .....
