What will it be, the good or the bad news first? How 'bout the good. After an initial rebuff, we finally managed to grab some photos of that exclusive T-Mobile MDA compact IV. You remember: 7.2Mbps HSDPA, GPS, VGA resolution screen, WiFi and 4GB of on-board storage. It'll also launch "mit neuestem Microsoft Betriebssytem" which we can safely assume is Windows Mobile 6.1 at this point. Oh yes, and the bad news. It's only a plastic dummy and our photographs were restricted by a glass cube. Still, this is as close as most of you will get for a long, long time. Full

if i bought this overseas and i put my sim card in it would it work?
MTM @ Mar 4th 2008 7:22PM
Probably not, though I don't know if the German T-Mobile version will work on the US T-Mobile network. I would just go for the unbranded HTC version when that comes out - probably around the same time this does.

pretty nice phone

My source at HTC HQ has told me that this handset is a Cruise with a different outer skin.
narutouzumaki16 @ Mar 4th 2008 8:00PM
well if this was a polaris(touch cruise) then i would probably buy the unbranded version.
nightflyer @ Mar 6th 2008 3:37PM
Yes you're right, according to the specs it is a cruise with roughly 15x bigger memory, 2x faster HSDPA connection and 4x higher screen resolution.
Ah, can you tell me if this outer skin suits my Tytn II???
Think Mobile @ Mar 6th 2008 6:45PM
@nightflyer, Ha HA Ha your killing me. After seeing this I sent it to my contact who advised it IS a cruise. They however did not advise me weather it was un upgraded cruise or not.

So, considering that the specs say "gps" and "hsdpa", could we hope that this might mean 3G for T-Mobile USA soon?
nikolimot @ Mar 21st 2008 4:20AM
Soon PB, soon... since the government has SIX YEARS to get off of T-Mobile's bandwidth that T-Mo purchased for the purpose of 3G, and since we all know how quickly the gov responds to anything (Katrina anyone?), we should see 3G by 2020, no just kidding, if what I hear told is true we should see 3G in top markets by Q4 of 2008 (the towers are already fitted).
