It was too expensive for me with my xv6800. Service coverage is similar with both in my area, and surrounding areas. Even better with AT&T when I'm visiting my relatives up north. I like both carriers, equally as well. As far as it goes, I wanted to try something non Windows based, and the iPhone looked cool, and I've read a lot of good things about it. Granted I've also read some downsides about it, and the AT&T services, but for what I'm using it for, it works wonderfully. I was with Verizon for 9 years. I didn't think it would hurt to try out another carrier. And so far, no regrets. Even with the lack of 3G, so far I'm not disappointed with my choice.

Allison

Comments on Verizon to offer open network details next month

"""How are Verizon's pisspoor crippled phones treating you? Maybe you can try using them in Europe, wait...."""

Pretty dumb comment...The crippled parts are a non issue to 99.99999% of users. I consider myself a "techy" guy, I generally could care less about these features...so to answer your question, they are treating me fine..

Oh and regarding the Europe issue, not many people are flying to Europe every weekend, sooooooo not working world wide is a pretty minor issue. You can always get a global rental 2 days before you leave.
Both of these issues affect such a small amount of people that comments like that just show stupidity.

mike

Comments on Verizon to offer open network details next month

AT&T sucks in California, unless they've gotten better with their merger with Cingular. They have the most ridiculous customer service. Verizon has good reception virtually everywhere that's populated. Granted, each one has their own dead spots, I've had about the same amount of luck with each provider. As far as customer service goes, well, they've both been equally helpful, and equally a pain. I think it's a crap shoot depending on where you live for reception, and who you catch on a good/bad day with the customer service.

~*allison*~

Comments on Verizon to offer open network details next month

I truly is a crap shoot customer service wise. Don't get me wrong, I love Verizon, but look what it does to it's handsets. And no, the iPhone isn't the most "non-crippled" phone available, but like I said before, it suits my purposes. And I love the UI. So for me, seeing as how service is about the same with both where I live/travel, that was was enough to make the switch.

Allison

Comments on Verizon to offer open network details next month

The iPhone may be crippled, but it's not shackled to VCast/BREW.

Navi Thach
