It feels like Nokia and Yahoo! have been all buddy buddy
for a while now, and indeed, Yahoo!'s been really good about deploying its wares to Nokia's S60 devices
in a timely fashion; in the mobile search game, though, it seems a bit of a faux pas to be without Google on board, doesn't it? The world's number ones in their respective industries have announced that Google search capability will be integrated into Nokia's bundled Nokia Search app on all the upcoming models announced at MWC this week and into other handsets in the future. Nokia's playing it nice and straight by saying that the move is all about "providing choices" to its consumers, but let's be honest, if you were going to have
one search provider on your phone, it'd probably have to be Google. Speaking of, is it just a coincidence that "Mountain View" rhymes with "Espoo"?

umm i think it has to do with the fact the microsoft will buy yahoo. sure yahoo rejected it but i think they probably have some inside knwoledge that microsoft will up their offer and buy yahoo. and they dont want the competition plastered all over their nokia devices.

Am I the only one in the entire world who prefers Yahoo's search results to Google's? Am I crazy? Believe me, I love Google for all their other apps (maps, gmail, groups, etc.), but I simply hate their search results. They're terrible.

yahoo actually comes with things that don't even have to do with your search a lot of the time. Once, I searched for 'lenovo thinkpad' and I got a result for a vineyard in Sicily. I'm pretty sure Yahoo can recover from this. Tmo is now making every single internet capable device they had to have Yahoo as default search engine.

"Espoo" doesn't rhyme with Mountain View. Espoo rhymes with slow, stow or snow.

Well, Yahoo's still got Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba, NEC, and whoever else is producing phones for Softbank over in Japan.

Uh..."Espoo"?
And what is "Espoo" supposed to be?

A search engine on a mobile device arguably performs a different function than its desktop counterpart. Like any other vague generalization, this is just that: a vague generalization, but, searches done from a mobile device are more likely to fit into a category. Movie times, business location/contact information, weather, etc. You're not likely to attempt tracking down that obscure Magnetic Fields cover from your cell phone. For that reason, I'll take an optimized (and heavily filtered) search engine experience on my mobile device any day. Whether it's Yahoo, MSN, Google, or anyone else is immaterial. All of the major players are capable of providing relevant content in this area. And if you really need to do a serious Google search, go to your browser and get crazy.
