Another thing to consider: how many countries actually have the iPhone for sale with providers?? Much of the Microsoft's success has been thanks to playing cooperatively with other companies (mainly licensing). But it's OK, Apple is happy with their 6% (for PCs) and 20%(for Smart Phones) market share playing it solo.
