Nokia swings open doors to London flagship store
The latest of eight stores now open globally, Nokia has officially unveiled its London flagship retail spot at 240 Regent Street (Hong Kong pictured). The location could very well end up being the crown jewel in Nokia's direct retail strategy, lying within earshot of Apple's impressive London location at 235 Regent Street and covering two full stories of consumer space. As we've seen in the other spots, LCDs and color-changing walls cover the perimeter, while the floors and ceilings are clad with rich woods. A separate "Product Zone," "Solutions Zone," and "Retail Zone" all guide shoppers to different areas of the store depending on their needs, while a dedicated Vertu lounge lets the nouveau riche do their thing in privacy. If anyone has a chance to check out the digs this weekend, be sure to send us some impressions![Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Not to bash on Nokia or be an Apple fanboy, but I heard these stores are not doing well at all...as in hemorrhaging major amounts of money each month. It's pretty blatantly an attempt to compete with Apple Stores, but they're shooting themselves in the foot. They put these things near Apple stores, and people see how the Apple store is bustling, while the Nokia store is dead.

In states i belive?
At least Moscow store is packed always, but i dont think so many people buy their Nokia's from there.
Flagship stores are just for the Nokia brand dont think they are there to make money.
After all Nokia is the most valuable brand from Europe http://wireless.sys-con.com/read/430472.htm =)
Too bad they aint doing good in states are they for real close to Apple stores there?

@Doze
I do understand that they don't have to be a money-making enterprise, but it's still striking how Apple manages to make money hand-over-fist from their retail stores, while other technology companies have had no luck (Sony, Dell, Nokia, etc). And yes, the two US Nokia stores (NYC and Chicago) are within 2 blocks of Apple stores (but those areas are very high-end commercial spots, so there are lots of "flagship" stores in the area).

Well of course biggest reason there would probally be the fact that Nokia isnt anything in NA and probally dont have strong brand either in there?
About Apple they have done the thing that Nokia is trying to do with their flagship stores.
Thought still i would think where Nokia dominates (Europe and Asia) you will see alot more people in those flagship stores than in NA.

I love how people try to compare these two companies. One is a PHONE MANUFACTURE while the other makes COMPUTERS. Now if u look at the sales of Nokia Phones world WIDE they DOMINATE 40% of the Market. And if you look at Apple Shares of Laptop. I'm sure they Dominate a great portion. Its kind of trying how people want to compare these two.
