eBay seller offers Nokia Aeon, is a flat out liar

Seem to good to be true? Yesiree, we're betting it is, too. Nokia's Aeon is a concept, not "Not even released for sale in U.S. yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!." If we weren't clear, he / she is trying to steal your money, so please don't bid. Of course, some may ask about the rather unconvincing renders that are being used to prop up this bridge of deceit, and one needs only check the dodgy shadowing and reflection to see that these just can't be real -- and are the same pics offered by Nokia. So in short, give mercerwholesaleelectroncs8888's -- with 4 feedback -- auction a peek, have a laugh, and hope that one day we'll actually be able to pick one of these up -- for less than $999.

Yeah, thanks for not allowing me to sell my other bids that were listed, I appreciate it! Would be one thing to shut someone's account down if you personally could verify that these phones were fake, ebay hasn't said they are fake yet either. I explained my situation in full detail below. I'm sure you weren't even a bidder, did you notice that I had a money back guarantee if they were unsatisfied in any way? You jeopardized my only source of income at this time, now I cannot sell all my other items. Hope you're satisfied? Don't you know people make a living off of selling on ebay? My intentions were to retract the bid had my supplier sold me something other than what he promised. This could still very well be a legit phone. Even the blogger had stated he was "betting" it wasn't real, my supplier is not from the US.

I believe I would be the one your talking about it in the blog! I am a woman not a man, although there is a Mr. Mercer (named Damon). I would like to explain myself if I could. I buy several items from all over the country and have different suppliers for different things. I'm starting a store here in Myrtle Beach. I CANNOT sell replicated items in that store, so I order things to see if they are legit before I sell them. One of my suppliers out of Europe sent me an offer on these phones. I have ordered several items from this person that have all been exactly has described with no problems! So, I did trust him that he would not do me wrong and lose my business orders he already is getting from me. This phone will be in my possesion within 2-3 days.
HE IS A CERTIFIED NOKIA DEALER (SO HE CLAIMS!!)HE TOLD ME ONLY CERTIFIED DEALERS CAN GET THESE PHONES IN EUROPE AT THIS TIME!!! The item does come with an international 2 year warranty, as well as an original certified (according to this dealer)! I would NEVER not offer a money back guarantee if I wasn't being honest about an item. OF COURSE, all people who won or bid on this item have that option to get their money back!! So I'm the one stuck with losing my money NOT THE CUSTOMER!! I have replied honestly to all the questions asked. Maybe, I shouldn't have listed the item so soon but, I already bought the phone so they could be shipped out immediately!! I will be more than happy to post any and all pictures of the actual phone, along with the warranty, and certificate supplied to me by my supplier. I suppose I too may have been scamed, but like I said before, I have never been scammed by this suplier before! He is the best supplier I have for all cell phones. I certainely don't think anyone is a moron on ebay, I was only selling this according to what this "verified nokia dealer" told me. I have bought cell phones from him before & he has never done me wrong. I can't imagine he would take a risk at losing me as a customer by selling me something that is not what he said he is selling me. He is a verified business as well as having a trustpass portfolio, I would never buy from anybody that didn't have that. Ebay allows the seller to retract the bid if something goes wrong or if the item may have been misrepresented, which in this case if it is sent to me and not what I ordered, I would have obviously retracted my bid and explained that in detail to any buyers. I offered a money back guarantee, you can't get better then that. As soon as this phone arrives, I will show it to sean cooper (who wrote this blog) and ebay and see what their opinion of this phone is. Ebay won't let me sell it if it's not real at this point. Although, to you at the top of the page, reporting this to ebay and having my account suspended was quite a bold move considering you, yourself are unsure whether or not this phone is real. You have jeopardized my only job at this moment, and source of income. I had other items that were authentic that I cannot sell now because of that suspension. I have two children and honestly, I'm a-little upset you took the initiative to do such a thing if you yourself are not sure. There is no need to be rude or hateful to people, I'm a little upset that some of you portrayed me as such an awful person in your blog. I would never do that to someone!! Please, keep in mind for future blogs that there are actual people sitting behind these computer's that are human, and we are not perfect, sometimes what you say can be said without being hateful and nasty! If this guy legitimately has the AEON, why would he need you to sell them? Why would he need a middle man to sell the phone? Wouldn�t that just cut into his profits. You�d think he would sell them directly to the public for maximum profits. It just reinforces the fact that he doesn�t have them. He would rather you take the fall for it.

The whole story just doesn�t add up. Hes selling you a phone that by all accounts was never ever ever produced, it was merely a concept. How many of these �phones� did you purchase? I think you have been scammed.

You keep saying that you completely trust him because hes never steered you wrong before. That was probably his plan, get you to trust him and then he will sell you something that doesn�t exist. And you will fall for it because he has gained your trust.

If there is a chance that someone is ripping people off, then I am going to report it. I am sick of leaving it up to eBay to catch all the crooks out there. I used to have a store, and every cockroach alive seemed to hit me. No one did a damn thing about it to protect me.
To add further insult to injury, I purchased a Sub-Woofer from a person through PayPal (Using my credit card rather than my account because I dont want my card tied into the account) I received the Speaker today. 40 pounds of garbage. It had no bubble wrap, no styrofoam it was a box wrapped arount a wooden speaker box for protection...the case is cracked feet too, a port on the bottom is falling out of the hole, and the Woofer rattles even at low levels. What do you think is going to happen here. I spent $305 shipped. My visa told me to screw myself we offer guaranteed payment not insurance or fraud (they dont claim this as fraud) Seller said in escellent condition...broken assed piece of junk, is all it is. That is fraud, they misrepresented it, because it is and was broken prior to shipping I have no doubt. So dont ask me to feel sorry for you. I did what I thought was right because no one else stick up for the little guy. Except me if I catch someone. I am pissed today. PayPal and eBay should be gassed for their incompetent protection policies. You should have a credit check done and have to pass prior to selling and buying as far as I am concerned, and not be able to switch names and never be able to create duplicate accounts. If I recall correctly you have 5 feedback or something, and there was a negative (i could be wrong I looked at a few profiles today). The store couldnt have been feeding too much if I am right though.

Okay, first off I'm NOT a scammer. I have NEVER sold anything off ebay yet. I have just listed these items because I was ordering several different things for my store. I would never, never, never, not give someone they're money back. I will show this phone to ALL OF YOU as soon as I get it whether or not I know if it is real or not. We will all find out then. I have never scammed anyone out of anything and until you proved that I SOLD something and SCAMMED someone you shouldn't accuse. I myself have bought things from ebay that were duplicated and I was not happy, that's why I offered a money back guarantee. Just because someone else does yu wrong you should not point the finger at everyone. I could be getting scammed too as we speak!! You may have a point that I probably shouldn't have listed this not seeing the item first. If he hadn't already sent me items that were specified as to what they were supposed to be I would have a reason to doubt him. I will admit that wasn't a very good judgement call on my behalf, and for that I'll apologize. First of all, I understand your frustration in why you decided to report this issue, but I still had the right to defend myself anyways.

And as to user Robinsmad: I never said I was a famous model or that I was a rich model, I said I have two babies that I would like to stay home and raise while working from home. I have every right to defend myself, and sense I have never sold one thing yet I have not scammed anybody, and sense you see that I had a money back guarantee on the phone, how can you justify that I wouldn't have followed through with returning the money. The point is that your mentioning that you used to be a model and that you have two kids is completely irrelevant. We do not care. Your auction was still a scam, whether you knew it or not.

And you said to the first commenter here, "Don't you know people make a living off of selling on ebay?" Clearly you are not one of these people, since you have all of five positive feedback. So what the hell are you complaining about? It's your fault for being a greedy idiot and listing things you don't even have in your possession yet, not to mention not doing simple research to find that these items do not exist. It's very likely that if you are getting any phone at all, it is the non-Nokia clone that 'baggins' linked to. And you would be a scammer if you sent those out to people who bid on your auction, because that is not what you advertised.

I don't think I'll take a step down and work for UPS, thanks! I'm also opening my own store as I had stated in an earlier post, which is why I have this merchandise I'm selling on ebay if the first place, I have to get enough merchandise before I can open my store.

For whatever it's worth, all I can say is that I have been honest with all you 100%, I would never have taken money from someone who didn't want the item once they saw it, whether or not you believe me is up to you, I know what kind of person I am and that's all that matters. If that phone (the one baggins posted) were to have shown up I would have imediately retracted my bid and explained the whole situation to the buyer. I certainely hope that is not the phone I get. I will show everybody this phone since it's coming to me one way or another, and I would honestly appreciate any and all feedback as to what you guys think about it, but please don't be mean about it, that's not really neccessary. I don't mean to lash out at people but I got so frustrated today with the whole thing myself, here I honestly thought I was getting this phone in and now come to find out this all happened today. And, yes I read a-lot about this phone before I listed it, but even though things aren't out in the market doesn't mean there aren't "nokia dealers" that might have them before they're released. At least that was what I was thinking when I listed it. I never expected it to come to all this. If you guys see this and think it is real (from what you post about it when I get it) I will consider myself the luckiest girl on ebay for sure. I'm certainely hoping for that to be the case! As of the way things are looking I'm so damn frustrated myself I could scream, and there's not much more I can do about it at this point, really. ARGHHHHHHHHHH!

P.S. I only reported the item as possibly being fake based on the info here. Posted the link and hit submit. I didn't make any comments on the sellers ethics one way or another, never would (don't care to be honest) I leave the rest to eBay. I trust what I read here because the members and the folks that run the site know a lot more about this stuff than I do. The other issue is, as much as one states money back refund, PayPal only protects the buyer on your account up to 200$ (based on total number of unique feedback and feedback percentage). That gives unscroupulous sellers the ability to sell a $1000 item and paypal will only go after the $200 and the seller runs off to a new account, with $800 in their pocket, buys 50 feedback for 50 (buying 1 cent virtual items like picture of my cat and trading feedback) cents and starts fresh with same scam. Uhh I hope this doesn't give anyone ideas...damn where is that delete button nooo thats the send butt..

You're definitely getting the fake clone. Nothing else exists. A lot of Malaysian sellers popped up lately pawning them on eBay as the Aeon, but they don't even say Aeon anywhere on the phone, just "Vogue Lifestyle".

I had a discussion with my supplier on im about this phone, I left out part of his name because I don't want people to steal my supplier............Thought I'd share it with you. In the pictures I refered to in Im are the pictures I had posted on ebay along with the pictures of the fake one you all posted here. Also, please note that I used my REAL last name in the ebay bid along with personal info linked to my husband and I (obviously, you found us on here)scammers don't use real names or personal info...for the record.

Here's my exact conversation with THAT supplier I receive merchandise from so you can see for yourselfs,would you have bought from this person???? What if they had sent you merchandise before in the past that was legit?? Ask yourself, what you would do? I want that phone too......You all have me worried now too.

Do you seriously believe that your dealer is the only guy in the world who managed to get his hands on these while their manufacture was a complete secret from gadget blogs? Haven't you wondered why he can't even send you a photo of it or the box?

If you really send in pictures of whatever he sends you, it's going to be the most hilarious thing ever.

Julia, ask yourself a basic question here - what is this blog site about? If you've poked around it for even a couple minutes, you'll see that its ONLY purpose is to find out about new technology products and announce them to other enthusiasts (and by "enthusiasts" I mean "hard core geeks who get totally excited about any new tech"). In the case of engadgetmobile.com you must see that this is focusing on cell phones in particular. The articles are posted by people who (generally) are finding out information way before it is released publicly - that is their passion. So you have to understand that THIS SITE would be the one to announce any real Nokia Aeon if such a product were really being produced by Nokia. The only announcements you'll see here were when Nokia announced the concept model years back - the Nokia Aeon simply isn't coming to the market. You can see all the fakes being created and sold on Ebay by others. If you seriously do have a family that you're worried about keeping financially safe, you really have to stop doing business with people like your supplier who is clearly lying to you. Especially in the face of overwhelming evidence that no such product exists. Believe us, you are being scammed. Why would any of us bother to try to be kind and help you keep from making such big mistakes?

If you still don't get it, your publicly being called a liar on all sorts of tech blogs and your eBay account being shut down IS karma for you being an extremely unwise eBay seller. You got what you deserved. You shouldn't be trying to sell $1000 phones you haven't even seen yourself and that frankly don't exist. Even if you did return the money, you would still be causing the bidders a huge amount of hassle. That's not the way a legitimate business works.

Selling something that doesn't exist is a scam, whether your intentions are good or bad you are being dishonest. Admitting you got duped sucks, taking repsonsibility for trying to dupe other people is what a good business person would do, you never did that.

There�s really nothing more I can do at this point. I�m a REAL person with a REAL NAME & obviously I�m not trying to hide my identity. I have been honest on this whole situation and explained what went wrong to the best I could possibly do. I don�t believe a scammer would have gone to this great of a length to explain himself. They would have just disappeared. I too, may have been possibly scammed as well as all those other people on the internet too. I wish everybody could be honest on the internet (as well as understanding and nice) I will certainly be more careful selling items such as cell phones and electronics on the internet next time around, I will make sure they are all verified by a person that has technology experience. I�m not perfect, I�ll admit but all I know is I didn�t intentionally try and sell something �fake� and try to �get one over� on someone on ebay to be greedy. I simply was only selling something that I was told was REAL. I�m sure robinsmad isn�t perfect either, although I don�t see her disclosing her personal information and real name on the internet. I�m not even sure if this blog wasn�t necessarily a good thing for me. I admit, I�m not some type of �tech nerd� on cell phones and electronics and don�t have the expert advice like some of you on this website have. For that, I do value the fact that you have given me some insight on this phone, although I did research, somehow I still believed this phone was just recently released, LIKE I HAD BEEN TOLD. To robinsmad ��..this whole thing has been completely blown out of proportion, honestly. If this had been a problem you had had in a similar situation I would not have laughed about you on a blog. There�s no need to be rude or spiteful off of someone else�s problem or innocent mistake. And yes, what you posted on here was something I had replied to a seller regarding items from tradekey, but that was possibly TWO years ago. This particular seller is not even on tradekey. I was not referring to buying �fake� electronics. It was referring to some items I wanted for myself such as a a chanel purse and a set of louis vuitton luggage (which I couldn�t find anywhere else except tradekey for ME , not for sale) I personally would never pay thousands of dollars for those items, I think that is ridulous, but I would never sell purses or luggage that were fake on ebay or anywhere. Nor have I ever sold items like that online. I know better than to do that on ebay and especially with electronics and cell phones (this wasn�t something I thought was fake I was selling on ebay, like I�ve said a million times before) I said anybody could ask me questions in regard to this and I would answer them honestly, and that�s what I have done. I have no more time to sit and listen to people belittle me anymore, or add fuel to the fire. This is the last blog I will be posting so to all of you who find it so comical you�ll have to find someone else�s life to ridicule and destroy. I will still post the pictures as soon as I get the phone, and be done with this, & if it�s fake I will return it, and never sell that model again. To all of you who understand where I�m coming from and that this was a mistake, I appreciate it. You know, I think it�s pretty ridiculous you take this much time to post blogs all over the internet, since I have explained this whole thing, obviously you have nothing better to do with your time. Why don�t you go after the SELLER�S that are selling these items on websites like tradekey instead of Americans who are getting scammed from them??????????? Seriously though, I would assume that the "research" you did included looking at the first page of results for a search on "Nokia Aeon," and seeing that the first result was that of Engadget Mobile, the caption as well says "concept phone," and then just assuming that it was in production!

You must remember the (latin?) phrase; Caveat Empor; BUYER BEWARE!

I wouldn't be bothered by you if you seemed genuine, but many parts of your story don't seem to make sense.

You are a huge liar. You listed wanting to stock the iPhone and the N95, which didn't even exist two years ago. And the post date was 1/22/08. Even if they got that message from somewhere else and reposted it, it would not be even one year old. And I don't even know why you're lying about that. When you posted it is irrelevant.

Why are you trying to guilt people who reported you? That is really sleazy. If your product was real, you would have had nothing to worry about it. And if Engadget readers didn't report you, other people would have. It's widely known that the phone you advertised does not exist.

3. Now is the first time you're really admitting that you might have been scammed. As recently as last night, you posted that chat log with your magical supplier and said you felt so much better about them being real. If you got scammed or were foolish, you should just admit it and stop making stuff up to save face.

It is legal to make phone clones. The other sellers on eBay with active auctions for the fake phone do not claim that it is the real Nokia Aeon. That is why they stay up while yours was taken down. They did enough research to know what they were actually buying, which is clear since they are only selling them for around $250. YOU were claiming to have a magic phone that doesn't exist and were selling it for $1000.

5. And why did your husband say the account was hacked?

In the end, you should consider this a very cheap lesson. You didn't lose any money (yet), you didn't get charged with fraud, and you might have actually learned something about reselling electronics before you even ruined your eBay reputation. This could have turned out much worse for you. Quit whining and realize that you actually came out of this rather lucky.

Okay, Jake whatever way you look at it, this is a complete mess, I'll admit, but was an honest mistake. I still haven't received the phone yet so I will know what it is (i'll post pics here once i have it) I did state " that i would retract my bid if the phone was fake and never have sold it in the first place" I also offered a money back guarantee. Although, I'll admit that would be a hassle for me or the consumer to deal with. I'll admit my faults which I thought I HADdone, damn i practically wrote a book explaining the whole situation. I guess, in this referenece to this whole blog nothing was ever sold, so really this whole thing should be over. I guess for whatever it's worth at this point I'm glad they removed the damn thing, honestly. I did the research but maybe I'm gullable in the fact that I believed this guy to be a nokia dealer, I mean how was I to know. Really I don't mind answering to people's replies but I'm just sick of people continuosly being hateful that's why I'm done with this whole thing!!

My dad actually buys gadgets (ipod clones, ect) from China and sells them on eBay.

I was just noting to always do TONS of research on a product, especially if you plan to buy, because I know that some people really aren't honest.

Thanks for actually being nice to me. I was starting to feel like everyone hates me. It sucks! I am supposed to be receiving them anytime now, believe me as soon as they get here I will shoe pics!! I am curious at this point. If I'm not satisfied I can return it, and since I'm not selling it on ebay in anymore I may!! honestly, I'm a little concerned selling any phones anymore period!! It's really not worth all this drama, seriously!!! I'll let you know, thanks!

robinsmad............Fine, well, quit making me feel like shit about this whole thing. I've admitted all I can about everything. I have been inquiring to tons of people on all lot of stuff on tradkey and alibaba just like other buyers do. I was just stating that I would not buy "fake" electronics willingly, to me it's a waste of money since I really wouldn't profit from them on ebay. I'm not whining just give me somewhat of a break, please!!! I wouldn't be mean to you, I understand where you are coming from too, I'm a was a brand ebay seller I didn't expect all of this to happen. I'm actually a very nice person in real life.
