Palm retail stores to close by month's end
Oh Palm, things just seem to be going from bad to worse. After your recent (and repeated) Palm OS II delays and employee layoffs, you really should be due for some good news -- but that's not the case today. According to a member of the TreoCentral forums who cites "sources," Palm will be folding all but its airport-based retail locations by the end of January. Apparently, other forum members have checked in with their local stores and gotten word from reps there that the doors are indeed shutting, so it seems like this is a go. Palm, we're not going to say you're in your darkest hour just yet, but we're pretty sure you can see it from where you're standing. C'mon guys -- get it together!

Oohhhhhhhhhhh, who will make Bender waffles the way he likes them?

Part of Palm "getting it together" means closing their retail stores. They're trimming the fat and refocusing on their core competencies. They still have a good market share and can absolutely make a big comeback.

Palm is really a great platform I really hate blackberry and Windows Mobile and I'm sure I'm not alone so I hope they get it together soon!!

I think it's time for another deathwatch. They should just join the OHA to get a Linux based OS and start pumping out real handsets soon.

Palm had retail stores??? When did this happen?
Michael @ Jan 25th 2008 11:24AM
There were only 7 across the US. Atlanta, New York, Century City, Los Angeles (The Grove), and 3 in the Northern California area.

I'm as shocked as T-Will that Palm actually had retail stores. I've never seen them either. I'm willing to bet that Palm will not live to release the Palm Linux based OS. They'll either get bought out or the company will will be left to rot before that happens.
R.I.P. Palm.

If you're in LA area, I saw one at The Grove out of the corner of my eye.

I wonder if that bodes well for the new BlackBerry stores: http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-scoops/the-inside-scoop-on-the-new-blackberry-store-88139/

Oh man. I totally saw this coming two months ago. They tried to blame us for the low sales, but really it was because the company is failing.
They fired me for my comments here on Engadget, and then two weeks later shut my store down. Serves them right.
(Biter much? Why yes I am!)
