Here's some info I gleaned from the thread linked from the "Read" link:
You only need to perforate small holes in the middle of the left side (that's where the soundport for the speaker is)
You won't be perforating the speaker itself (since that's hidden further away inside the case). Rather, you're opening up holes in a flap that covers a soundguide.
You may run the risk of the perforations allowing some dust getting into the case, also not sure what the warranty implications are...
Here's some photos someone took with their case off, showing the speaker port on the left & where the membrane goes:
I also participated in this newest trend... It worked well. I poked 6-7 holes, and its decently louder (20-30%). You can feel the "protective layer" being punctured when you stick the needle in there.
Dont go any deeper than that or you may poke the speaker itself.
