Trademork has dug a juicy morsel out of the Trademark Office's filing cabinets today, noting that Sony Ericsson filed to get its paws on the term "Xperia" on January 10. The filing reads like a what's-what of pretty much everything a cellphone could possibly be expected to do -- perform satellite navigation, function as a remote control for computers and run "multimedia presentations," to name a few -- which leads to the conclusion that Xperia will likely be used as the model name for some future superphone (the rumored
P5i, perhaps?) or as a new series of devices in the same vein as the Walkman and Cyber-shot lines. Personally, we're hoping Xperia stands for "world-band 3G," and looking at the company's
recent efforts, we're thinking that's not too much to ask.

I like that they're "getting their paws on"... Like Xperia's got a whole gaggle of people looking to use the name.
I would like to see a P5. SE in general has been good to me so keeping them on the short list for a K850 upgrade would be nice (& I've been feeling the pain since leaving the super computer N95, but batter life was tough to get over).

What the heck is a superphone?
#1 is the loneliest #.

I wonder how this works - search "xperia" and you get a lot of hits including a ERP software company and a sweetening product with a little "TM" next to it's name...

P5i=Bella
but good to hear it'll support most of 3G bands (but how about AWS?)
if AWS is also supported, please reserve 2 for me!
