Riddex Plus dispatches pests the easy way: with "Motorolla technology"

So we just happened to catch a commercial on TV for a mysterious device called the Riddex Plus that apparently discourages rats, mice, and insects from invading your home merely by plugging it into a wall outlet. We're guessing it works by emitting an ultrasonic tone of some sort -- and for all we know, it works great. What concerns us, though, is that they're touting the Riddex Plus' built-in "Motorolla technology," and regardless of whether they actually let a typo slip into a nationally televised commercial or the technology really does come from a company called Motorolla, it sounds like bad news.

Yeah I've seen this commercial a few times. When I heard "Motorolla" I was a bit surprised and suspicious because why would Moto allow themselves to mentioned like that? And they flash "Motorolla" on the screen so fast you can't even read the whole name.

Ok, well it seems the worst is to be expected from this debacle. It is indeed powered in some fashion by a "Motorola microprocessor". Whomever was responsible for that advertisement is going to be in huuuuge trouble

yeah, i'd keep seeing that over and over, finally read all the text over two commercials. their PR department is gonna get hit hard i'd expect. i wouldn't even want something that 'turns the wiring in the walls into an invisible pest repelling force.' what might that do to power quality? think i might need a few battery backups/surge protectors...

The folks at Riddex Plus have corrected the spelling of Motorola, through an updated version of the same video being shown on cable networks nationwide (which still indicate Motorolla as of January 20). Streaming video on front page of their site:

I don't expect they'll ever attempt to explain what facet of Motorola technology makes their product 'so good' and the folks who end up buying it will probably be happy enough to hear a name brand that they know shoe-horned into an association with this product.

.... After reading all the postings, I am left with one question.... Does Riddex Plus do the job as claimed? I'm not in the least interested as to the use of the name of Motorola, after all Motorola is big enough to take care of any upstart company, if that's what Riddex is

I own this product. Still got mice. And I can hear the electronic pulsing when all is quiet...but I have acute hearing with certain frequencies.

Regardless of what Riddex claims about their product, some simple research will prove that roaches (as well as most other insects) are attracted to electromagnetic fields, produced by the flow of electrical current. In laymans terms: Bugs like electrical/electronic devices. I have freakin roaches living in the display of my microwave. So, wouldn't it stand to reason that this electronic, pulse-emitting device , would be more likely to ATTRACT insects than to REPEL them, as intended? Maybe it attracts them so strongly that they flock inside the walls towards the electrical wiring, so it SEEMs that they are gone... when they are have actually just become a deeper, larger, and harder to eliminate infestation.... JUST MY THOUGHTS.... feel free to quote. ;)

That doesn't explicitly say that they don't work, but they were ordered to stop marketing the product until they can prove that the product is effective.

DON'T BUY IT I did and it does not work. They said a week i would get results, I gave it a few weeks and then when I tried to E-mail there customer address for a refund. like the product that didn't work either. Tried calling them, nope can order get recorded message to order or reorder. I was sold on the motorola hype, i guess there ads work. good info from others about that

I made the bad mistake of purchasing two of these units for a little over $50. Needless to say I could not contact them because they do not have a e-mail link on their page. However, the things do not work at all, I have even found that the roaches are nesting inside the units. It is just another rip off as you see everywhere now days. We have had them for 3 months and can not see any change in the roaches leaving, seems we have more than we did before installing them...
