yeah i notived too. many people don't remember that phone unless they see it. that was called the V which is the prediccessor or the env and now voyager. but the code 9800 is made by lg. that doesn't mean verizon won't change that. why do you think every lg cellphone that verizon has is always vx before the number? but would really like to know about it. i love lg

this is actually a document regarding software releases. this particular software will release on the 9800 as well as the new phones in March. Hence the reason the 9800 & 5400 is on the same page as these new phones

Yet another promising phone from Verizon. I skipped on the Voyager. What's up with all this cell manufacturers? If Apple can make a thin iPhone, these other players should be able to at least come up with something "almost" as slim.

i am with you. yes my q took a lot of help from the qusers.com forum to make it work well, but i have stuck to it because it has a nice (read: slim) form factor. i would take the mediocre keyboard on the sprint version of the touch because that phone is so slim... i am no apple fanboy, but what the hell VZw??! every slide out phone is a totally fatty. the vox, pillager, i mean voyager, treo (pick a treo any treo...), tilt, oh wait we dont have that yet do we? ugh. dont make me get another q. how boring is it having the same phone for 4 years...???!

You can't build phones really slim if you want it packed with hardware features and expect halfway decent battery life. The battery technology may be available but at a much higher cost. Most of the people here are always crying that high-end cellphones are already too expensive.

FINALLY
I've been following the u940 Verizon rumors for months over on HoFo. March/April is what we've been able to come up with (guess). Glad to see something on a computer screen to reaffirm my thoughts.
I didn't want to get the Vger since too many people already have it. So Its good to see the u940 possibly coming soon. Hopefully they have a Croix theme in addition to the Vger theme..

You know, U940 is a sister of F700 which is called "Qbowl" right now in Germany. But Q-ball seems worse than Qbowl...

3) WTF is up with Verizon getting all these crap qwerty non-PDA/smartphone OS devices (see #5)
4) I could probably answer #3 but it most likely make all the Verizon fanboys mad.
5) If I remember correctly the best thing about this phone was the 7.2 HSDPA. So without that (it being on EVDO and all) what's the big deal? Especially if it's locked down like the Voyager being forced to use stupid Verizon's stupid email sync. So then what's the keyboard good for? Text messaging?? Psshhh... Let the user do something DECENT with the keyboard and you MIGHT have a decent phone.
5) Sorry about all the WTFs but it's late and it was the easy way out and also mildly amusing...

WTF is up with everything think if it has QWERTY is has to be a PDA or it sucks. I do NOT want a PDA, I do NOT need a PDA but I LOOOOVE me some QWERTY. I think it's awesome that VZW is actually selling some qwerty phones without being forced to use WM6 or something. I don't need all that crap.

Pamela below is right. I tried to post earlier but the site was locking up.
Whatever Verizon employee you spoke with was taking about the new purple Gleam. Chances that an employee at a local Verizon store or even someone from Customer Service knows as much about their phones and future releases as a well informed buyer is slim to none. Especially when those informed buyers browse sites like this one on a regular basis.
I'd wager that 90%+ of local Verizon store employees would either be completely clueless or direct you to the wrong model if you asked them about the U940.

Are you sure they didn't mistake it for the violet colored samsung gleem? By the way, does anyone know what the vx9800 Env is doing on the list, is there another color coming out?

i don't think any more colors will come out, but expect to see the env for a while. some people won't lay down 300 dollars for a voyager when they can lay down 120-130 for a better camera set. (looking from an older perspective) -stil want the voyager though ^.^

What's up with Samsung bumping up against other manufacturer's handset names? First there is the Blackjack (vice Blackberry), and not the QBall (vice Moto "Q"). This kind of "propping up" of a new product is exactly why we have trademark protections in this country.

If I had to guess, the 5400 and 9800 are more than likely listed because they are becoming Premium plan (VCast, Nav, Email) capable devices. I haven't heard anything official yet, but if I can confirm this I will post again.

Ok, it appears that the 5400 is NOT premium capable at this time (well after the 1/8 date listed above), so my guess is wrong.

I don't get this snapshot at all. 5400, nothing special seems to have happened yesterday for it. The 9800 should be old news.
So the only real info that is new seems to be the Qball and the 9100....

oh why couldn't this have wi-fi...... it would totally be the perfect phone... ugh... still getting it though haha. Does anyone know exactly what it will look like? i've seen a couple different versions but i'm not sure what the final one was. Also, is the verizon UI the one with the cross-selection thing?
