AT&T branded Palm Centro looks pretty legit
Yeah, it could be fake, but if you had to pick one handset to fake up in Photoshop, would this really be it? Seriously? Sprint's exclusivity agreement on the Centro is just about to expire, undoubtedly opening a floodgate of carriers rushing to pick up the low-end Garnet phone, so if neither Sprint nor AT&T are your carrier, we'd recommend you just hang tight for a bit.

Either this photo is a fake, or the same photo running on mytreo.net with a TMO badge is a fake, or they both are, take your pick. TMO isn't going to launch this device anytime soon however.

I submitted this to you guys more than a week ago, before I even made the post that Palm Infocenter is citing.
There was another photo of a white Centro next to some red Treo in late December. Both were on, and I believe the Centro had the 680 interface. I've been trying to find it again, but it seems to have disappeared.

The supposedly revolutionary devices won't be materializing for at least a year.

I love my iphone, but I got to hand it to Palm, I love the white. It looks awesome in that color, and if your not going to innovate (regarding Palm) nor add any new features, at least get the color right (which they did here).

heads up, I work for att, and the latest rally they announced that the centro will be on the lineup, this is legit. I believe it will have intergradted GPS as well.
DaManRightChea @ Jan 13th 2008 1:21AM
Well I beta tested this thing, and I can undoubtedly say that it does NOT have GPS. T-mobile is also getting this shortly after ATT because some of the other testers were on their network.
robinsmad @ Jan 13th 2008 1:46AM
The CDMA Centro has an aGPS chip, which can be unlocked if the carrier chooses. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same for GSM. But Palm just partnered up with Garmin for some external receiver, so that may mean the carriers are not likely to unlock it.
DaManRightChea @ Jan 13th 2008 11:21AM
robinsmad, it is true about the eGPS. The phones we were issued had Telenav software preinstalled but it didn't work for some reason. So you're probably right about them locking it.

Ok I'd believe you if you didnt say it would have GPS. Yeah right. Palm? GPS? I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd expect WiFi before GPS. And I don't expect WiFi. But i dont doubt the Centro coming to ATT. I can't wait to upgrade my (8MB left of memory) Treo 650. And if you do work for ATT, give us the real scoop. EDGE or 3G???? Cmon!!

im sure all the features that they add into the phone will be great, ive owned 4 pda's and one of them happened to be the treo 680. Its a great phone but at our store nobody buys palm anymore, its either blackberry or apple , so palm waiting another year to release there linux based software may cause alot of current palm users to switch to a diffrent pda
