Nokia N95 8GB gets speedier thanks to firmware update
Not too far removed from its N95 and N95-3 brethren, the mighty N95 8GB has now been hooked up with a firmware update for all to enjoy. Like the N95-3's most recent (and so far, only) update, this one appears to be a minor patch that might leave users wanting more -- improvements seem to be focused on performance and quality, not new functionality -- but hey, any time a manufacturer feels like making its phones a little more stable, you won't hear much bellyaching on our end. Now that this business is all wrapped up, perhaps you can turn your attention to bringing the N95 update's joy to the N95-3, guys and gals?[Via All About Symbian]
Update: We missed a couple key gems here in the new update that have been discovered by folks over the course of the day: full support for Flash Lite 3, video included -- meaning YouTube is a go -- and support for Nokia's widget platform. Not bad! Thanks, everyone!

Does anyone know how a mac owner would update the phone? I've checked the nokia forums but no luck

When is the 8G coming to the US in 3G version?

I just received my 95-3 today and hope Nokia comes through with larger the update soon, I understand some of the changes are rather significant (demand paging) and it would be a good signal from Nokia.

I think Chris needs to refile this report. Flash support for the web browser is pretty huge.
Chrisphillers @ Jan 3rd 2008 7:32PM
Chris you have missed a huuge monkey here - the N95 8Gb now suports full flash - ie full youtube.
If this was the iphone people would be wanking off to Jobs and shouting to high heaven - I dont get it!
The N95 8Gb is elevated to Godlike status in my eyes with this firmwareupdate - why isnt this reported on engadget main? Every single minor point is discussed on there but when a mobile gets this its ignored - I am confused!

Its incredible, such a monumental feature for any mobile phone or mobile device, having full flash media support...COMPLETE UP TO DATE FLASH SUPPORT....is just a simple footnote in an article.
Yet being able to send sms to multiple recipients, being able to change and move around icons on a certain other phone is big news that demands several new articles on the engadget main alone.
Sigh!!
