We're sorry in advance if we're ruining anyone's plans to give or receive a
T-Mobile branded Pearl 8100 for the holidays, but you know what they say, don't shoot the messenger. Word on the street is that T-Mob will be replacing the 8100 with the WiFi-equipped
8120 on February 18 (it could've been selling them already, but there's apparently a push to clear out the 8100s for the holidays first). The initial model will be gray and will feature a redesigned keyboard and trackball along with an external card slot -- in other words, much of the same joy Verizon, Sprint, and Alltel customers are already enjoying with the
8130 -- with the addition of Hotspot @Home support like its big sib, the
Curve. Only question left is, how long until we can get a
full rainbow going?

It should have 3G in it since it is right around the corner for T-Mobile.
If you were paying attention, you would've saw T-Mobile's first 3G phone which isn't released yet.

@Will
The first 3G blackberry *was* the 8707, which came out in 2006:

Only Band I though.

Good, although 3G should have been included since TMO has been working at it. It doesn't matter, I'm not buying the data plans anyway - I'm all for the WiFi and the Hotspot@Home! Hopefully by Feb. 18, AT&T will be honoring their 'pro-rated' early termination fees, cause I can't stand them anymore. Oh...

It's too bad Verizon is effing expensive, and holds a tight grip on their phones. Oh yeah, their phones suck too. Though, I have to agree they were my next choice since their network is unparalleled in terms of call quality and coverage.
Actually, TMO is considered next to Verizon by J.D. Power (in terms of overall call quality, dropped/failed calls, and customer satisfaction). Now if we were talking AT&T, I'd have to say they can eat their network. Anyone know how their pro-rated early term. fees will work?
